| 01400ex's Full Review: Panasonic DVD-RP56 DVD Player |
I do not know enough about the technical aspects of DVD players but I have read many reviews here and on audioreview.com to know that, technically, this is about the best DVD player for the money. I wondered how important the progressive scan was but decided to shell out the extra $$ and am really glad I did. We rented Dinosaur the other night and I was absolutely stunned at how incredibly sharp the picture is on our new Sony 36XBR450 TV. The remote is easy to use but I do think the RP56 is a bit slow to 'read' the DVD and carry out commands from the remote. Nevertheless I don't care!! The results are stunning and I'm so glad I went with the advice from this site and audioreview.com. Hooking up the unit is very easy. I do wish it was a carousel but it would have been about double the cost!! I'm writing this brief review so non-videotechnophiles (!) are reassured that following the advice on these websites is a great way to learn about how good these new components are. If you're buying other components I have written brief reviews on purchasing speakers and receivers. And, Oh yes, I spent $170 on good digital and optical cables and am very glad I did. I've seen a demonstration where a TV is set up with three different types of wires/cables and I was amazed at the difference in the picture quality and audio--they really are worth it if you want the best picture possible
