| charlienascar's Full Review: Panasonic DVD-RP56 DVD Player |
My RP56 broke 3 times in less than the 1 year I have owned it. The problem is tray mechanism will jam when ejecting due to cheap plastic gears and bad design. The local repair center fixed the first time at 5 months old for no charge. Parts are good for 1 year, labor for 3 months. Catch 22: you can't get parts without labor. It is a flat $90 for Panasonic to fix. Repair center said the motor was bad. (wrong). I fixed the second time at 8 months old. The problem happened again at 11 months. I called up and faxed Panasonic (lack of) Support all of my paperwork. I can't get by catch 22. I'll end up buying a cheap gear from Panasonic online, and another brand of DVD player.
This was not a cheap APEX $60 throwaway unit. It was a top of the line $230 progressive scan. I expected it to last more than 5 months.
I can't believe all the pat-on-the-back review syrup on this site. For honest reviews, check out audioreview.com
