I had been waiting and hoping that someone would post a review on here before I went out and purchased this phone. Unfortunately no one did and so I searched and found a couple of reviews on another site. Those reviews convinced me that this phone was the one for me, as I was already leaning towards purchasing it anyway. So here is my take.
Some guy raved about how great this phone was and how the range was superior to anything he previously owned. My horse stables are about 100 yards behind my house and I was really excited about having this phone to carry with me while I'm back there with it's "superior range". So I took it with me to give it a try and it can't even connect, the handset says "Out of Range". At least with my previous phone, a V-Tech 5.8 GHz, I could connect and receive calls, albeit there was a lot of static. But it would work and I could carry on a conversation. The Panasonic can't even connect up. I thought this new 6.0 DECT technology was supposed to offer greater range but it's just not the case. I find the range to be worse than the V-Tech I was previously using.
Also I find the features of this phone very disappointing. The biggest disappointment to me is having the ability to easily view the Caller List log. When someone calls and hangs up without leaving a message, I want to easily see who it was. On this phone, you have to press the Menu button, then Arrow over on this round button(similar to an OK button on cell phones) to enter the Caller List, then hit up and down on the round button to view the entries. It's like you have to program the frigging phone just to see who called. On my V-Tech, I had Up and Down arrow buttons and with one touch, I could see the last caller. So much easier on the V-Tech, I don't know what Panasonic was thinking on this, I really don't. Some guy on that other website said the same thing, that the Caller List is not easy to view. I agree 150%.
Another disappointment to me is the Answering Machine. There is no numeric display to let you know how many messages you have. You only get a blinking red light when you have a new message. I am so used to coming home and seeing "3" or whatever flashing to tell me how many messages I have. Plus on top on that, the V-Tech would chirp periodically when you have new messages. That was a great feature, you wouldn't even have to walk over and look at the display, it would audibly alert you to new messages. Now I only get a blinking red light, big letdown.
Also when listening to your messages, it doesn't tell you the Date or Time of the message until the END of the message. What is that all about? The first thing I want to know on a message is when it was received! On this phone you have to listen to the message, then it tells you the Date and Time. Maybe this the new wave of the future or something, but it's certainly not what I want. Are all phones going to this format?? I hope not.
From this review you may be thinking I'm a Panasonic hater. Not true, I'm a fan of Panasonic products. Just recently bought a Panasonic Plasma TV, and I have owned Panasonic phones in the past. But this phone is a major disappointment with it's features and range. I would not recommend this phone and would advise you to keep looking around. I wish I had done that.
