hartzog04's Full Review: Panasonic KX-TGA270S 2.4 GHz 2-Line Cordless Expan...
I received the Panasonic Expandable 2.4 ghz KX-TG2700S base unit as a Xmas gift. It has a ton of features - more than you would ever use. Speaker phone on the base, multiple ring tones, speed dial, intercom, room monitor, etc. Shortly after I received the base unit, I received another additional handset, the KX-TGA270S, which I use as my office phone. I was very excited to use these phones, because I've had many Panasonic phones, both wall and cordless, and had very good luck with them. After only a couple of months of use, both the handset on the base unit and the expandable handset would go dead after only a few minutes of use. They perform nowhere near their advertised talk or standby time. My old 12 year old Panasonic will last for at least 2 to 3 days in standby mode (off the charger). My new 2.4 gzh Panasonics last approximately 6-8 hours (or less) in standby mode before needing recharged. Granted, I use the built-in speakerphone on the handset for most of my conversations, but I have literally used these phones for as little as 5 minutes before draining the battery completely. I thought the problems with one phone may be a coincidence, but two phones probably is not. Also a friend told me that he has another friend with the same phone who has encountered the same problems I've had - her phones' battery life is approximately 10-20 minutes before needing recharged. Other than the battery problems, these are nice full featured phones, although the ergonomics are poor. The phone just doesn't fit your face like it should - long conversations (if you can actually have one despite the battery) are uncomfortable when holding the phone to your ear. The handset could be a little smaller and lighter. Overall I'd give this phone about a 6 out of 10 - as much as I like most of the features, the battery life is so poor that I would not recommend it.
