Pros: Ease of movement, lighter than a full-size upright. Low noise. No odors.
Cons: Carpet settings are on the powerhead, and in low-light they are difficult to see.
I purchased this canister vacuum cleaner for my elderly mother, as her last upright vacuum was too heavy and it was difficult for her to move upstairs. We had a little vacuum for upstairs, but it died after one year.
The Panasonic MC-CG902 is a "Very User-Friendly" vacuum cleaner.
Putting it together was no effort. I stood by just in case mom needed help when she took it out of the box, andt I hoped that she could assemble it, without my assistance. I also wanted to ensure this was the right appliance for her needs. Mom had it going in less than 10-minutes!
The dual-motor system, even though it’s 12 amps, is nice and quiet. It makes a little humming noise that is not annoying like most vacuum cleaners.
~ Ease of use:
Mom likes the fact that the ergonomic, curved handle houses the “on/off, floor, and carpet” switch, so that she can operate the appliance without effort. Even if she can’t see position of the switch because of poor lighting, she can tell that the “softer hum” is for the floor, and “powerful” sound is for the carpet setting.
The bare floor setting is without the agitator, probably why it offers a quieter operation.
The power head houses the carpet height position adjustment, but my mother finds it difficult to see the settings unless it’s very bright in the room and she can see it well. I honestly think she wings it when she’s vacuuming, but her carpets looks good afterwards, so she must have the hang of it.
The 14" cleaning path is nice and wide, and it is large enough to get the job done quickly. Also, the power head is flat enough at the front to fit under most beds, and furniture. There is a light at the front of the cleaning unit, so it’s easy to see the area being cleaned. The hose attachment swivels 380 degrees at the base (where it attaches to the canister), so that means, no more twisted hose!
The power head becomes detached from the hose easily, and so my mother can carry the vacuum upstairs without any effort. The unit has a nice curved handle to grab and carry.
Since the power head becomes detached, storing the canister upright, with hose attached is very easy, and doesn’t use much space.
~ Power Cord:
The 24-ft power cord is long enough that does not require constant plugging in and out. The power cord rewinds into the canister.
~ On-board extras:
Floor Brush, Dusting Brush, Upholstery Brush, Crevice Tool, 2 Chrome Wands.
~ Useful Information about Replacement Parts:

I ordered this Panasonic MC-CG902 over one year ago, and the price since has come down by $20.00. I paid $249.00. Overall, mom is very happy with this product; I also like it a lot, since when I visit, I help her vacuum the carpets.
The burgundy paint finish on the canister is still intact, and we lightly clean it with a soft towel and household cleaning liquid. The HEPA filter and the micron bag helps keep nasty odors from coming out of the unit.
Cleaning is excellent on mom’s low pile carpeting. It does fine on around the baseboards, though sometimes, one needs to dislodge particles by hand, or use the crevice attachment for tight places. We have two dogs and mom vacuums every other day. She’s very pleased with this vacuum’s performance, and so am I. Overall, I think this Panasonic MC-CG902 performs more efficiently than most vacuums we’ve owned.
