| beauling's Full Review: Panasonic PV-DM2792 27 inch TV/VCR/DVD Combo TV |
Ok people, I know that we hate going to the electronics store because if most of you are like me I come out with more than I wanted.
*Let me tell you about a time when this didnt happen. I walked into one of my favorite stores in search of a TV. I wanted the size to be about 27" and I didn't want to spend over $1000 because I like my toys. You must be thinking $1000 is a lot for a TV. The first few I had my eyes on were flat screen and 52" picture in picture the whole bit. Well needless to say I veered away from those TV's after I saw the prices.
After what seemed like about 5 minutes in the electronics section I caught the eye of an associate at the store. We got to talking and he started to ask what I needed the TV for.
Well
#1) I need a tv to replace mine because my wife wants to put ours in the kids playroom so they can fall asleep to movies.
He then asked "Is there a built in VCR to the one in your room"
Yeah it's just a little 19" with a built in VCR
He then brought up the point "Have you ever thought about getting a DVD player?" Quick to answer I said yes because I had some DVD's that had been sitting on the shelf unopened because they were gifts and we had no way to play them.
I then followed him to the far corner section of the TV's and he started to introduce me to a number of TV/VCR/DVD combos. Many of them had the same features but I seemed to like the Panasonic out of them all. The remote looked user friendly and I am embarrassed to say I spent 30 minutes talking with that associate about the features and other things rather than the price. I assumed it was in the $1100 mark like the others.
He explained that the system could play back music cds cd-rs and cd-rws which is a plus for me. The Tv is also set up so you can add your own home theater speakers right through the back. You can even tune the Tv into FM radio stations... I got a kick out of that. I could plug my Playstation or camcorder in the front VIA the audio video ports and record onto a tape. The VCR thats built in is a 4-head thats extremely fast at rewinding and fastforwarding. The VCR also has the best slow motion I had seen. The DVD PLAYER has it also. There is a built in timer so you can have it turn on every morning or one morning a week when the news comes on. the timer also allows you to start recording your favorite show if you are or aren't home when it comes on. The clock can be set by putting the Channel on a PBS network and pressing set time or simply sync it with the cable company if you have cable. It has a auto channel scan that adds channels that come in and deletes the ones that don't.
The sides of the TV have nice carrying handles that you cant even notice when you walk past. They make it very easy to move when its time. One of the best things about this Tv is that if you fall asleep before your movie is over then your movie will play through and stop then your TV has something like a 15 minute timer and it then shuts off.
After hearing all this I was convinced to buy the TV happened to be on sale from $1000 cut to $799.
It may be less expensive now because I bought this when it was pretty new. I never thought I would buy another combo TV, but now I know thats all I will buy. I took the tv home and the controller was so easy to use my wife didnt even open the user guide... in fact I think it is still shirk wrapped.
I enjoy this tv as much as the day I bought it and the user friendly interface was a major mark in my buying decision. Although it doesn't have my picture in picture and my flat screen, it does have a lot of things I wasnt expecting.
So you are the only person that knows yous needs and you can be able to know if this TV is HOT or NOT. feel free to rate this article. I hope I was able to give you a little info on the product I love.
AS for the s-video input... I just bought an adapter that converts to Audio video inputs.
