Can't handle overuse

Pros: Keeps your small kids quiet on the plane.
Cons: Mine needed a new screen just after the 1 year warranty.
The Bottom Line: Based on my bad experience with it's durability, I would not recommend this player.

Here's the list of reasons why I purchased this player:
1) Great way to preoccupy my kids on the plane with Barney and Disney DVDs
2) Excellent picture quality
3) Excellent sound with good earphones
4) Very light and portable compared to laptops w/dvd.
Here's the list of what I consider to be the drawbacks:
1) Gets really hot and can malfunction (I wouldn't play too many movies continuously)
2) Joystick is hard to control at times when trying to access menu items
3) Speakers aren't great but adequate
4) 5 inch screen is a little small
I have mixed feelings about this player. I enjoyed the portability being able to catch a late night movie in bed. I also liked the flexibility of using the remote with it hooked up to my bedroom tv. Unfortunately, the player stopped working right after the warranty period ended. It turned out that it needed a new screen and would cost $400+ to repair from the Panasonic repair center. At least I could hook it up to my tv and still watch DVDs (so I thought).
A half year later, I'm now seeing red tones for all the colors in any movie I watch (I checked and it wasn't my tv).
Now that the newer model is out, the price of this player should be coming down some. I may try getting my player repaired if the price gets more reasonable. I already have a spare battery for it, and I did enjoy it when it worked.
Because of the money I spent on this, I wouldn't recommend this player. I expected more durability for the money. If I do decide to repair this unit and it works fine, I may change my mind but it's unlikely I'd be willing to spend that much more money.
