I bought this as a present for my wife before we went away on a trip. We used it at home for a week or so, and were really impressed with the features and the the overall quality.
When we try to use it on the plane, we were disappointed that we could not hear it, even with the volume all the way up. [Watching The Matrix with the closed-captioning is no fun at all.]
The screen is very good quality, and very watchable. It has multiple modes so you can set it to 4:3 or letterboxed version.
The remote is a little weeny, and hard to use, but it does have all the features I would expect from a full-size DVD player.
I think the street price on this is way high. Much higher than I paid. I bought from Costco, and there was a $100 rebate.
All in all, it is well worth it.
