Pros: Easy to use and no monthly fees!
Cons: Occasionally freezes up. You need to have a phone plug near the unit.
The Bottom Line: Get it. If you can find it (preferably new), buy it. It's a lot better than TiVo (esp. for the price)!

..if you can find it. I got mine from ubid.com. It's the same as TiVo, yet with no monthly fees! It's very easy to program and I have had no problems with recording.
The 20 hour record time is fine with me. I just record regular sitcoms and a few movies. If you plan on keeping movies, you might need to buy more time. Or, you can hook it up to a VCR and record the movie from the unit to a VCR (an added step).
You need to make sure that you have an extra phone outlet nearby (similar to TiVo) or else you will have to buy a remote phone outlet (at most electronic stores).
Occasionally, the unit will freeze up, but I just unplug the unit and it's fine. It also has a built-in TV guide to allow for quick surfing.
I like the unit so much that I have two.
I highly recommend this product--- A LOT BETTER THAN TIVO!!!
