| gene9p's Full Review: Panasonic TH-42PX50U 42 in. HDTV TV |
I admit that I am not a fan of plasma tv's..there are just too many cons, burn in short life, etc,..but then I came across this new tv by Panasonic and I was blown away..I tried to convince myself that there was something wrong here by testing the set at a local store with every dvd that I could think of that would show some fault in this set but the tv handled them all with ease and such a remarkable picture that I knew I was hooked..I presently own the Sony kd34xbr2 HDTV and to me this tv set the standards for all tv's out there..but the Panasonic was just too good..so after doing my homework on the set features I took the plunge into the hated world of plasma...I hooked up my hdtv cable box via both the component and HDMI in puts..both provided awesome HDTV...I would be hard pressed to say which input looked better..my sony dvd player is hooked up via the components and movies are jaw dropping too..after a few minor adjustments the video is the best of any tv I have ever seen or owned...deep blacks, vibrant reds and greens..it just does not get any better than this..I have not tried the ota tuner yet..my area has very little to offer and much of it is low signal on my sony xbr which also has an ota tuner ...regular tv stations look very good too ..I do not hear any fan noise unless you go around the back of the tv and put your ear right up to it...it has a new generation of plasma panel that lasts up 60,000 hours...or 15 to 20 years...no way to prove that but I hope it lasts a long time..there is still a problem of burn in...but I read where one guy ran all sorts of burn in programs on a last years Panasonic plasma and had no problems....so I hope this one does as well...I do not use video games or watch much of tv channels with scrolling bars and logos so this should not be an issue for me..I hope this helps anyone who is unsure about this tv...it is highly recommended by a real anti plasma guy who is now in love with a plasma tv
