espeelark's Full Review: Panasonic WhisperWarm FV-11VH2 Electric Heater
Let me tell you - this thing is well designed! Very robust fan & heater design. The heating coil almost looks to me to be like the burner unit types find on an older style electric stove. No cheap, flimsy heater wires on this baby like the ones that are on the NuTone unit it replaced. It is also VERY quiet compared to the NuTone Heat/Vent unit that it replaced. The exhaust van is larger in diameter and therefore doesn't have to spin as fast to evacuate the same volume of air - therefore quieter. Everything is designed for quiet operation - even the damper/flapper has little shock absorber pads so it doesn't make a noise when it closes! The only problem is that it isn't designed as a replacement unit where you already have an installed (drywall) ceiling. I had to do some thinking on how to install it and still utilize the hanger brackets that came with it. Wasn't too big of a deal though and it is very solidly mounted. The instructions are clearly written with lots of good pictures for reference. Panasonic even included multiple support brackets to accommodate whatever the spacing of your ceiling joists are. The unit has four knock-outs on adjacent corners to accommodate your choice of where you want to bring in the electrical wiring. All of the mounting screws that may be required for whatever your specific installation amy be are also included.
