One of another set of Pantene triplets- but still excellent
Written: May 21 '06
Product Rating:
Pros: cheap, fairly thick, rich, moisturizing
Cons: not unique- one of 3 similar Pantene conditioners
The Bottom Line: Great fairly inexpensive conditioner for dry to damaged or coarse, but not totally fried hair- just virtually the same as some other Pantene conditioners
countrygyrl's Full Review: Pantene Color Revival Conditioner
As you may already know,I have been a fan of Pantene conditioners and after reading Paula Begouns reviews, Pantene is the only brand of conditioner I have in my shower. Oh sure, I have other favorites, but when it boils down to price Pantene wins hands down every time.
Pantene's Color Revival conditioner is just like the all the other Pantene conditioners in their "regular" lineups ( Color Revival, Classic Care, Volume, Smooth and Sleek, Curl Care and Daily Moisture Renewal.)
It is packaged in shapely, plastic, off- white, flip top bottles. Color Revival is distinguisable from the other Pantene lines by its reddish/ coppery accents.
The smaller 13.5 oz. bottle has the flip top cap on the bottom for eaiser dispensing and retails for around $4.00. The larger 25.4 oz. ,which has the flip top cap on top, is around $6.00.
Pantene Color Revival conditioner is a fairly thick, very creamy, white conditioner. Fact is, the look and feel of Pantene Color Revival, Smooth and Sleek and Daily Moisture Renewal conditioners are virtually identical- as well as the ingredients.
All Pantene conditioners, and Color Revival is no exception, are very similar- they all contain alot of "alcohol" (usually 2-4 different kind including cetyl and/or stearyl, benzyl- which are not "alcohol" but fatty acids and thickeners, alot of silicone (cyclopentasilxane and dimethicone) and Pantene's "pro vitamin/ amino acid" complex of panthenol and amino acids ( including lysine, histidine). Color Revival also has trace amounts of sunscreen - benzophenone-3 and vit. E- tocopheryl acetate.--- Nothing unique here.
Nonetheless, Pantene Color Revival conditioner is very good and perhaps my favorite out of all the Pantene conditioners (with the exception of Relaxed and Natural)
It has that wonderful Pantene scent- which has been slightly changed from the original Pantene of years ago to a slightly fresher, cleaner, crisper scent that isn't as perfumey or flowery as the original.
Color revival clings to hair very well- no dripping or running and rinses out fairly easily. It can leave hair feeling what some may consider "coated", if not rinsed well enough. However to me its more like a slight "film" that's not dirty or heavy feeling but more like a protective coating.
My poor (but pretty) hair, which is mid back length, normal in thickness, slightly wavy, coarse, color-treated and fragile/damaged is left feeling soft, silky and shiny.
This conditioner would be good for anyone who has dry to damaged hair or hair that feels coarse.
If you truly fry your hair you really may need something richer like Neutrogena Triple Moisture or Pantene relaxed and Natural but Pantene Color Revival is still a good cheaper option.
This, as well as, really any other good moisturizing conditioner will build up so a weekly clarifying shampoo is a must.
This conditioner has become a shower staple- especially for the 3 teenage girls in my house all who color, blowdry and generally torture their hair.
