Pros: Gives the illusion of health hair.
Cons: Pantene products in general are harmful to the hair.
In this review I would like to give an overall review concerning Pantene Constant Care conditioner as well as all of the Pantene Shampoo's and Conditioner's. I would like to share with you what I was taught in school and then give you my own personal opinion about these products.
I had learned in Cosmetology school early on that most shampoo's and conditioners that start with the letter "P" for some reason are very damaging to the hair. This would include products such as Pert, Prell, Pantene, and a few others.
I was taught that these products while they tend to leave your hair looking healthier, easier to manage, and give the appearance to shine, are really not healthy at all.
These products contain a higher amount of wax which can actually strip your hair further. Until taking these classes I was an avid user of Pantene products. They did what they promised. They did not lie. They gave the APPEARANCE of healthier hair. BUT....Was my hair really healthier? The answer to that is no.
In fact my hair was damage further. These products leave a coating on our hair. This is what gives us the healthy look we all seem to love from these products. What the coating really does is weakens the hair strand.
I have noticed that since I have stopped using Pantene products my hair IS now healthier. In my personal opinion I think that combining the use of Pantene on a regular basis, along with controled burning of the hair such as perming and bleaching, over time your hair will break and eventually need to be cut to eliminate the damage.
In my personal opinion, I think that there are instances where Pantene products are fine for use. I think that if one were to have short hair and continually maintained getting the hair trimmed then these products would be fine. If you don't plan on keeping your current hair around for years then this is a product that can be beneficial for cosmetic reasons, just know that your hair is not getting any healthier. If you are constantly cutting it and you don't need to worry about the damage as much.
Now, if you are the type who has long hair, or are planning to grow long hair, I would definitely not recommend Pantene products as you might see that your hair won't make it that long. I noticed people who use this product have very thin, dry, ends that break. They end up having to use more conditioner which continually coats the hair until the point of breakage.
I must honestly say that I had a very hard time breaking myself from using these products. I am glad that I did though. Now I notice a huge difference. My hair seems to be thicker and I am not fighting with tangles. My hair has a real shine to it now and not one from a bottle that will hurt it.
There is only one true way of having healthy hair. That is by not adding chemicals to it that will burn the hair and by not over coating it with waxes and other ingredients that won't come out.
