I’ll admit it … I am a tightwad. When it comes to haircare, I hunt for the cheapest, yet functional, shampoo and conditioner to use. A few months ago, I found Suave Natural Lavender Shampoo and Suave Natural Lavender Conditioner, which I now use on a daily basis. However, I find that my oily and damaged hair needs help beyond what Suave shampoo and conditioner can provide. Thus began my search for a deep conditioner to help my pathetic, damaged, and frizzy hair.
While at Target, I narrowed down the deep conditioners to two. I decided to try Pantene Pro-V Intensive Restoration Treatment because of my familiarity with the brand.
Price, Packaging, and Presentation
Pantene Pro-V intensive restoration treatment is packaged in a convenient squeeze tube with a flip top. The conditioner is sold in a quantity of 200 mL (6.8 fl oz) for $3.69 at Target. The conditioner smells wonderful and is pearly white and thick in consistency.

Directions
After shampooing, apply liberally to hair, focusing on ends and other damage-prone areas. Leave on 3-5 minutes, depending on level of dryness or damage of hair. Rinse out with warm water. For extra shine, follow with a cool water rinse. Use once a week or as often as needed. Safe with chemically or color-treated hair. For best results, use with Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo and Daily Moisture Renewal Conditioner.

My Hair
Unfortunately, I have oily hair. My hair is straight and medium-length. I have only had two perms in my life and do not intend to ever get another one. I’ve never colored or highlighted my hair, despite finding more and more white hair. I don’t use hairspray, mousse, or gel and have given up blow drying my hair. My hair isn’t dry, but it sure is damaged. It has these frizzy looking hairs that are just terrible. My hair needs help!
My Experience
After shampooing and rinsing out all the shampoo from my hair, I squeezed an amount of conditioner equivalent to about two quarter size for my medium-length hair. The first thing I noticed was the very pleasant fragrance of the conditioner. It is difficult to describe; I liken it to a bouquet of flowers – simply wonderful! The conditioner is pearl colored and thick in consistency. (This conditioner was a welcomed change to my daily conditioner -- Suave Natural Lavender Conditioner -- which I use more to detangle than condition my hair.) I applied the conditioner to the ends of my hair and then to the top of my head, working the conditioner through with a wide-toothed comb. I found that this is very helpful in evenly distributing the conditioner. The directions state to leave it in for 3 – 5 minutes, depending on the level of damage or dryness. Figuring that my hair needed as much help as possible, I left the conditioner in my hair for a good five minutes.
The results … When the time came to rinse the conditioner out of my hair, the first thing I noticed was how my hair was ultra-soft and ultra-smooth. It was like a brand new head of hair! My hair had never felt so silky soft! However, I was still holding out judgment until my hair dried. Would it show a difference, even after just one use? I allowed my hair to air dry (I’ve given up using a blow dryer to show some mercy on my hair), all the while, enjoying the pleasant scent of the conditioner that was still lingering in my hair. After my hair dried, it was noticeably more manageable, softer, and shiny (but not greasy shine!). There was no feeling of residue or heaviness from the conditioner. I still had some flyaway hairs and frizz, but this was after only one use.
I use the conditioner two times per week; it would be rather expensive to use on a daily basis (my cheap gene kicking in again). I have used the conditioner for almost three weeks now and I am finding my hair more manageable and softer with each use. Though the frizzy hair is somewhat tamed, it still persists. I’m sure that this problem will take a longer time to resolve. I suspect that a tube of this conditioner will last me about a month, since I do use it twice a week.
Final Thoughts
Pantene Pro-V Intensive Restoration Treatment has shown me that sometimes paying a little more for hair products does produce better results. I will definitely continue using this conditioner to repair and protect my damaged hair.
