Pros: Cleans hair nicely.
Cons: Doesn't live up to it's claims.
I am always on the lookout for a new Shampoo, one that will make my life easier by helping me tame my fine hair. I learned a long time ago that fine hair is the hardest thing in the world to work with, it has a mind of it's own and doesn't mind using it.
A month ago I was on one of my usual Saturday shopping trips and needed shampoo. I noticed that Pantene had come out with a new texturizing line and decided to give it a try. My hair is cut so that it can be styled into those chunky layers. I just have trouble trying to manage this.
The first item I purchased was Pantene Pro-V Texturize! Shampoo, I read the claims of You have: Short, medium or long hair. You want: Striking texture with defined chunks and layers. Advanced Pantene Pro-V Shampoo and Conditioner System: Is specially designed to improve texture without weighing hair down. Adds healthy shine for defined styles, whether your hair is short, medium or long. Gently cleanses and preps hair for textured styles. For the ultimate look, use Texturize! stylers and experiment. Piece it - flip it - shape it. Shampoo with an ELASTESSE Complex - the Pantene Pro-V prep-flex complex - that lets you be you. I found this to be some mighty bold claims and if the claims are true, the I would be in heaven.
What I noticed about the Pantene Pro-V Texturize! Shampoo is the color and scent. The color is a pearlized white that won't change your hair color no matter if it's natural or not. The scent is very clean and nice.
When using the Pantene Pro-V Texturize! Shampoo the lather is very luxurious. For medium length hair you only need an amount about the size of a quarter. If you get more than that you will have trouble rinsing the lather out of your hair. It seems to be very concentrated. Then you apply the conditioner, that goes along with the shampoo, and make sure you get the ends of your hair. Rinse that out and you are ready to style.
After towel drying my hair, I found that blow drying was very easy. My hair didn't seem to absorb so much water that I stood there forever trying to get it dry. After drying I noticed clean, shiny hair that wasn't manageable at all. I had fly aways that could not be controlled with their pomade. The only thing I had was clean hair that wasn't weighted down by a heavy conditioner.
I also noticed that there wasn't a heavy waxy buildup on my hair. A lot of shampoos leave this behind so that you think you have gotten the extra volume, instead it works against you. You have to purchase something else to get rid of this residue that is left behind so you can start having good hair days instead of bad ones.
After a month of trying to achieve the look Pantene Pro-V Texturize! Shampoo says you can achieve, I gave up. It wasn't happening for me. It did give me clean shiny hair and that's about it. As for manageable, you can forget that with my fine hair. It takes a lot more than just some claims.
I've haven't had any allergic reactions to the Pantene Pro-V Texturize! Shampoo nor any of it's companion products. Just clean hair.
I honestly can't recommend this for anyone with fine hair. It just doesn't cut it. More hair with more body it might actually work as claimed. I was very disappointed in this product.
