All my life, I've struggled with hair that is fine and limp. It's straight and that's the way it likes to hang - preferably plastered to my head. Pantene Sheer Body Shampoo has made a noticible difference in my hair.
Some Background
My hair is about as fine as it can get.
As a child, my mother would wrangle my hair into pigtails by almost pulling it out of my head from overly-tight elastics. Even then, my hair would release itself from the 'do in a couple of hours. I have tons of childhood photos in which my ponytails look like bizarre half-attempts.
I've never even been able to curl my hair for a special occasion. Even using overnight sponge rollers, I've never had a curl that lasted past lunchtime (with the exception of the few years I had a perm).
Most shampoos weigh down my fine hair. I've always had to use an obscenely tiny amount of conditioner - just enough to keep out tangles and not enough to cause problems. But not washing my hair has never been an option for me.
Not being a person who likes to spend too much time on my hair, I ditched the perm, chopped my hair to chin length and decided to pretty much ignore it. If it got to long, I pulled it back with a hairband and counted the days until I could schedule a haircut.
The Experience
Several months ago, I received a sample of Pantene's Sheer Body Shampoo in the mail. I used it, it smelled okay (rather non-descript and unoffensive) and it didn't seem to weigh my hair down. The sample came with some coupons, so I went to the store and bought a bottle of the shampoo and also a bottle of the Sheer Volume Conditioner. I've been using it almost every day since then.
I didn't notice much of a difference at first. My hair always felt clean though, which is a big plus for me.
After about two weeks, I noticed a visible difference in my hair. It seemed a bit shinier and - if my eyes weren't deceiving me - my hair was no longer plastered to my scalp.
After a couple of months, even my husband noticed the difference. My hair feels much softer, looks more lustrous and actually has a small amount of body.
I like the difference!
Side Notes
This product is not going to give anyone's hair "outrageous body" unless they already have it. But, it's great, if you're like me and you just want enough body to justify having hair.
I did use the Sheer Volume Shampoo in conjunction with the Sheer Volume Conditioner. So, I can't say that my results were completely due to the shampoo.
Pantene's products, in general, are slightly more expensive than other "grocery store brand" hair products. I usually buy the family-sized bottle because it's a better value than the smaller bottles. I usually pay $7-$10 for it, depending on whether or not it's on sale.
