| vickie's Full Review: Papa Razzi - Cambridge |
Papa-Razzi's motto might be a little overstated in the sense that "ordinary" is sometimes good...and they do have some of this "good thing." This is a great place to go for a business lunch--when you want excellent quality food, speedy and unobtrusive service and ambiance that is classy yet not stodgy, lively but not so noisy that you cannot hear. This is Pappa-Razzi! Caroleg does a great job of reviewing this restaurant so I will try to limit my comments to additions to her review of 1/27/00. Like Caroleg, I have eaten numerous business lunches at this restaurant in Cambridge as well as the one in Burlington.
Anitpasti--I agree with both of Caroleg's recommendations. I also highly recommend the Antipasto della Casa (Prosciutto, salami, fresh Mozzarella, eggplant, "vinegar" peppers, marinated tomatoes, country olives and provolone for $7.99) and the Pizzetta al' Aglio e Olio (baked pizza bread topped with garlic, extra virgin olive oil and fresh Parmigiano for $3.99).
Pizza--I've never tried the pizza here. However, it is baked in a wood-fired oven which can't be too bad! It looks and smells divine!
Pasta--Papa-Razzi pasta is great! It's prepared and served al dente all of the time--never overcooked. The use of olive oil is pretty liberal, so if you care about sparing use, request it when you order! Again, I agree with Caroleg's recommendations. I also "go for" the Rigatoni Luganega (carmelized onions, sausage, mushroom, ground tomatoes and a touch of cream for $9.50), the Penne al' Arrabiata (pasta quills with browned garlic, virgin olive oil, white wine, ground tomatoes and Italian parsley for $8.25) and the Porcini Tortellini (Porcini mushroom filled pasta with wild mushroom and fresh basil sauce for $9.99).
Secondi--Like Caroleg, I love the Risotto of the Day and highly recommend it. The Salmone al Forno is cooked in a wood fired oven so it is nice and crispy on the outside edges. It is consistently served fresh and moist in the middle, and served with roasted greens and grilled sweet potatoes. I also recommend the Pollo alla Valdostana, a wood-grilled boneless chicken breast with Prosciutto, Fontina cheese, Marsala wine and wild mushrooms ($9.50).
The wine list is reputable with a moderate number of quality wines. I've never tried the desert--always been too full or managed to get to point in a business conversation that I didn't want to risk food falling out of my mouth! I can't really recommend anything.
As I mentioned, the service at Papa-Razzi is responsive and unobtrusive--important for business. Another important consideration is that parking is readily available, at every Papa-Razzi location that I have seen, let alone visited. I highly recommend any one of these restaurants.
