| Freak369's Full Review: PaperMate Flair Felt-Tip Pens 83201 |
PaperMate has an extremely large family of products that include pens, mechanical pencils, markers, erasers, correction tape and correction fluid. Over the past few years they have put out several cutting edge pens that provide you with exceptional ink flow, a sleek look, ergonomic design and all at a price you can afford. Long before I discovered the Cross Ion series I was hooked on the Flair series of felt tip makers. I fell in love with the sharp and crisp black lines they produced and when I came across the colored ones I flipped! With all the different felt tipped pens on the market, these are the ones that I like the most. Costing less than .90 cents a piece when purchased by the dozen, these are as functional as they are cost effective. Combine that with a wide array of colors, a tip that takes forever to wear down and excellent ink flow and you have one hell of an impressive felt tip pen for under a buck. Best of all, no matter how hard you press on the tip, youll have a hard tiem trying to get it to bend out of shape the perfect felt tip pen for those with a heavy writing hand.
Making a choice between ballpoint, roller ball, felt tip and fountain pens is never easy. Price, desired effect, application and comfort are all things to take into consideration when picking out a pen. Thankfully a majority of the pens on the market today can be purchased individually so you can try them out before purchasing a multi pack. The PaperMate Flair Felt-Tip Pens arent for everyone, some people dislike the way the ink leaves the tip or people who are slow writers will hate the way the ink pools up on the paper but for those that have cultivated a love for true felt tip pens, there is no greater choice than the Paper Mate Flair line. With a multitude of uses around the house and in the office, this felt tip pen is in my opinion - an indispensable writing tool. Aside from all that, if you leave the cap off them you dont have to worry about the tip drying out in five minutes; Ive left some of mine off for days and never had a problem with the ink getting stopped up or the tip getting dry.
Fine Point Vs. Ultra Fine Point
I found that both of these styles of felt tip pens are great for letter writing however if you are a slow writer or write in cursive a majority of the time, the ultra fine point is the better choice. Using the ultra fine point will almost eliminate the pooling of ink when you stop writing for a second. The fine point is great for addressing letters, packages, making gift tags or creating borders on artwork however if you need something that will allow you to create extremely thin lines, do touch up work, create detailed designs or work in a small area. Ive used both the fine point and ultra fine point and have a real preference for the ultra design. I still purchase both styles but the ultras definitely get more use. My boys use both styles of this felt tip pen but have really started going for the ultra fine point lately. They can have a little more control over the ink flow as well as being able to take notes without having to worry about the ink smearing something that seems to be a common experience with the fine point felt tips from Paper Mate.
Sizes & Prices
The most economical size is the 12 pack box which can run anywhere from $8.99 to $10.99 depending on which store you shop at. Ive had the best luck getting these at Office Depot and so far I havent had any trouble with them being out of stock. I consider these to be perishable pens since there is a good chance that older markers will be dry or not have the same color impact. Since Office Depot rotates their stock [when needed] Ive never had any trouble getting markers that were dry or didnt immediately write when put to paper. When purchasing these in the twelve pack you might want to open it and test one out to make sure that they are fresh. If you are hesitant about purchasing a dozen at a time you can buy these individually to test out the different tips that Paper Mate sells to try and find the one that is best for you.
Things To Know
= You can check out the PaperMate website to check out all the different styles and colors that are available as well as promotions, coupons and other offers that creepy up on the site from time to time. You can access the main site at www.papermate.com and the ultra cool PaperMate Community here: www.papermate.com/sanford/consumer/papermate/community.jhtml where youll have the ability to give feedback about pens and products that PaperMate and other sister companies produce and distribute.
The Bottom Line
Any way you look at it, the PaperMate line of Flair felt tip pens are a great pick for anyone that wants something with a little more weight than roller ball or gel pens; the color selection is just as impressive as the different styles of the Flair that PaperMate offers. Being offered individually as well as in multi packs, this cost effective felt tip pen is something that can be used by anyone. My brood like to use the darker colored ones to use with note cards when they are working on a project and the lighter ones to make revisions. Outside of that I use these for a multitude of things around the house, office and shop.
As always, thanks for the visit
