| lipps66's Full Review: Patagonia Capilene Underwear |
I am a hiker. The biggest problem that we as outdoorsmen/women have is proper layering. Starting off your hike cold and somewhat motivated then as you get moving your body temp rises and you need to shed those layers to keep comfortable. The mid-weight capilene as a first layer really keeps you warm and dry.
I have two of the three weights of capilene, light-weight and mid- weight. The light-weight is great for spring and even in the summer, it somehow through some sort of magic wicks sweat away from your body to keep you cool when it is hot and warm when that spring wind hits you. The mid-weight is fantastic as a base layer for those of us that still hike in the winter and late fall.
This stuff is pretty expensive but well worth the money. The only problem with the product is that if you are on a trip that will last more than a day this stuff really holds body odor in the material. It wicks that sweat off the body but hold stink in like, I don't know the stuff just stinks after you wear it for a day.
They make everything from sports-bras to men's underwear (tighty whities and boxers) to expedition weight stuff that is almost too warm. Overall capilene is a great product and I suggest if you are a hiker, biker, skier, or even a hunter use this stuff and you will never buy another kind of underwear again.
