| DJC750's Full Review: Patsy's Pizzeria |
I am admittedly not a food expert, nor do I have extra sensitive taste buds, I have, over the years, eaten pizza in almost every pizza place in the city. Several of my friends are also people who have "eaten around". No it is no coincidence that me and my friends both agree that this is the best pizza place in the city. It is a thoroughly tested idea. As such, I would at least like to believe that my ideas carry some weight when you are looking around for something to eat. I have only one serious concern about this restaurant, mainly that it is slightly expensive. The bill usually comes to about $18 per person. Now while this is rather reasonable in the city, it is somewhat expensive for pizza. However, I believe that the pizza more than counterbalances this, and when I am with friends, and I have enough money, I will gladly go to Patsy's over another pizzeria.
Food:
Although this is officially an "Italian" restaurant, I would advise that you skip the pastas and other trademark Italian dishes and go strait for the pizza. The pizza is the best food that they serve, and it is extraordinary! All of the pizzas are thin crust, with an excellent balance of cheese, dough and sauce. Now while this may seem obvious to some people, it is actually quite hard to find a place where one of the three ingredients is in a much greater abundance than required. The crust is just slightly crispy, and the sauce is good all by itself. The cheese is a good mozzarella. Whole, fresh basil leaves are also included on all of the slices, and they add quite an excellent little zing. One warning however, the pizza slices are not particularly filling. Myself and two of my friends have each eaten an entire large pizza, when hungry. One of my friends ate two whole pizzas... Then again, we don't call him a bottomless pit for nothing... When eating at Patsy's, I suggest that you order a plain pizza, and try it before you add on any toppings. If a normal slice is not good enough for you, try adding a little bit of Parmesan cheese on top, you will not be disappointed.
Service:
The service here is rather good. Now while it is not true that my water glass is always full, it rarely if ever goes empty. You food also usually comes rather quickly, unless there is a crowd. Now there is usually a small crowd at least, as people are always eating. During the afternoon, I have, as of yet, never had to wait. The evening is another story, as there is usually at least a fifteen-minute wait.
Decor:
Patsy's is decorated with a traditionally conservative, family style decor. Which means that while the tables and chairs are modern, while the floor is a dark wood, and there are wooden trimmings half way up the wall. The other half of the wall is light beige, creating a rustic and relaxed environment that makes this restaurant rather comfortable both to bring friends and the family.
