Reality
*I have normal, straight hair. I use lots of styling products, so it's easy for my hair to go dry. I believe this product is for all hair types. It leaves the hair soft, detangled, and well cleansed without the feeling of being over done. Also, like the label says, I don't have to shampoo twice to get all the styling products out of my hair. Even on days when I don't have any styling products in, my hair still feels soft, and well taken care of with this shampoo.
I'd also like to point out that, I discovered this product at a salon that I go to. They use to use a different brand, but now, they only use Paul Mitchell's Awapuhi Shampoo for ALL their clients (I guess this proves that this shampoo can be used for all hair types). I liked the feel and smell of the shampoo so much that after I got home, I phoned them and asked for the name of the shampoo. I have been using it ever since and I'm very satisfied with the results.
*This product IS definitely for everyday use. Although it claims to be a "super rich shampoo," it's not greasy and will not leave hair feeling oily. As for using it on the body, well, I'm sure it works just as good, but I don't want to spend that "extra" money using this product to wash my body. A good old "cheap" soap will clean my body just fine.
*It IS deep cleaning, moisturizing, and conditioning. My hair feels just "right"--not over cleansed or "under" cleansed.
*I haven't really noticed my hair getting any shinier, but it DOES seem to add a little "lift" to the hair.
*Because of its "soft" sent, I think it's great for men to use as well. It does not linger after wash like some shampoos.
Final Word
I use to use Aussie Mega Shampoo for a long time. Recently, I bought another bottle of Aussie, only to discover to my horror that they completely reformulated the product. They now use "ammonium" instead of "sodium laureth sulfate." Ammonium based cleansers are very cheap to make, and it's also quite controversial because it has been linked to some major health risks. They now have only a couple of plant extracts in the ingredient list, and the rest are all "chemicals." They still charge the same as before, but I bet it now costs less to make the product. I returned the shampoo for a full refund, and began my quest for another shampoo. I could have looked for another drug store brand but Aussie was the only one that I was happy with. It did not have an overpowering scent, and it was a good everyday cleanser that removed all the styling products out of my hair. So, I knew that my "next" shampoo had to be from a salon. This is where the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Shampoo came in. Since I had tried the product before, I knew I would not have any problem with it. I wish it wasn't so expensive, but compared to other salon brands, it's not so bad.
I don't know how long I can "afford" to buy this product, but until I find another shampoo that I'm happy with, Awapuhi shampoo is the one I'm sticking with.
PS: Don't you just love the name "Awapuhi"?
