Pros: Looks, sound and feel.
Cons: Not able to use both humbuckers in full.
A few years ago, I decided it was time to finally splurge on an upper-end guitar. Prior, I had always played mid-level guitars from relatively trusty brands like Ibanez and Yamaha. I had considered a Les Paul (always loved the sound and feel), but wanted something more versatile. Having drooled over images of PRS guitars since the 80's, I had my sights on a Custom 24. When I finally played one the look, sound, and feel were better than I anticipated.
What do I love about it: well, the look, sound, and feel of it. They really are works of art... the figured maple top, the curves... I can just stare it for hours. The HFS pickup is awesome and very complimentary to the guitar. It's the perfect guitar for belting out screaming pentatonic licks - they come out smooth like butter. But it is also versatile, and I can coax many sounds of it, including nice chicken picking tones.
What do I not like about it: only one thing, I wish I could combine both humbuckers in full. Perhaps I will look into modifying it.
Finally, it was expensive... I paid about $2400 for mine (with case). Had to take a loan from my 401k at the time to pay for it LOL. However, it was well worth it. Rock on.
