Payless Orlando's Poor Service (Reply to this comment)
by geels2484
Wow! You said a mouthful. Glad to hear it worked out for you so well in the long run. Gee, I'm a little surprised they didn't make you walk back to the airport after all the other abuse they put you through.
I wrote them a letter about the poor service, but never did hear back from them and did not get an adjustment to my Visa.
As you said, sounds like Payless' days are numbered. As the saying goes, if you don't take care of the customer, they WILL go away!

I forgot to mention that one of the things Payless tried that ticked me off, was refusing to allow my wife to use her credit card, unless she became the primary driver and payed an extra $10/day for me to actually drive. They insisted that no rental company would have handled it any differently. This would have turned an $80 reservation into a $130 one.
Wrong!!! Enterprise, and now probably their Alamo and National Car Rental subsidiaries does not charge extra to add a spouse to the rental.
When they refused to rent us a vehicle, I was about to walk out anyway. I knew I could do much better than $133 elsewhere, and I did.

when I arrived to pick up a reserved vehicle for 5 days this past February 24th. He was arrogant, rude and argumentative. Then he tried to accuse me of saying something I hadn't and never would have said. By this time, both of our voices could be heard by everyone in the tiny place, and they all backed me up!
At that point, the manager (a witch, but spelled with a B) came over and told me she refused to rent me a car. I took their shuttle back to the airport and found a better price in at Thrifty, after only 15 minutes on an airport pay PC that cost me $3-4.
While we were at Thrifty, we also got a great deal on tickets to Disney and the Arabian Nights, just for sitting through a 90 minute (exactly) presentation at Westwood Resorts. I enjoyed that 90 minutes more than the 20 minutes of HELL at Payless.
We saved almost $200 on the tickets, and Westwood didn't care that we were already in Orlando courtesy of Marriott, who also got 90 minutes of our time on the last day to try selling us for the second time. Our visit with that sales rep was also very enjoyable - we're not difficult to get along with, but Payless found a way to really tick me off.
Our suite at the Marriott Grand Vista was only $199 for 5 days and they gave us $100 in Disney cash cards. Anyway, the better Thrifty rate ran out after 3 days, but it was well worth the extra $10-12 on the total cost of $80 something, just to deal with nice people and to get a very nice, brand new Hyundai Sonata, with less than 3000 miles on it. I never knew Hyundai made such a nice car. It was very fun to drive.
I can't thank Payless Orlando enough for turning us away, as if we were being punished. Hardly!!! It was a blessing.
BTW, I have a friend who manages a local Enterprise office near Philadelphia. Enterprise recently bought both Alamo and National. She tells me that Payless might not be around very long either. I wish I could be there when the Bwitch and the arrogant old man get their pink slips.
