With the abundance of eating options in the Mount Washington Valley, there are many options available to me. When I say a place is a favorite and I go there quite often, it really means something in terms of the quality of the place. The place I choose most frequently when we go out for breakfast is Peach’s Restaurant.
Located in the Village of North Conway, Peach’s Restaurant looks pretty non-descript from the outside. It’s in a cottage-style home that was converted for restaurant use. in the warmer months, there is outside seating on the patio. Inside, it’s warm and cozy with bright pastels. It’s a tight fit in some ways, so it’s not a place to bring kids who can’t sit still, although the place is child-friendly. I love to sit on the back parch with a beautiful view of the woods and mountains.
The tables are for two or four, although they can be put together in a few strategic places for larger parties. Personally, if I were headed here with a larger party I would be resigned to being broken up. The tables have a home-like feel to them with a lamp on each. One thing that’s really neat is that people write comments about Peach’s Restaurant on paper napkins and the restaurant uses these under the glass table-tops. It’s interesting to read where everyone who visits comes from.
Peach’s Restaurant only serves breakfast and lunch. Both menus are available all day. They are open from 7AM to 2:30PM, although I would confirm the hours as restaurants up here tend to change the hours seasonally. Always check the specials on the board as you are entering as they change and usually are very good as well.
Some of their signature dishes are their Banana French Toast ($5.95). It’s not like the French Toast I love from Disney World, but it’s quite delicious in it’s own right. The Very Berry Pancakes ($5.95) with blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries is also very good. If I get pancakes, I prefer Apple Butterscotch Pancakes ($5.95) with sliced apples and butterscotch morsels - yum! Any of these meals come with table syrup. If you want pure maple syrup, it’s an additional $1.25.
I’m usually an egg and potatoes type person in the morning, and I positively love the homefries at Peach’s Restaurant. They are sliced and seasoned and taste great. I’ll get The Original ($3.95) of two eggs scrambled with home fries, toast, and coffee. Adding meat to the meal brings it up an additional $1.30. A friend of mine whom I dine with loves the Eggs Benedict ($7.95) here. The Omlettes at Peach’s Restaurant are also quite good. A combination of three different fillings and cheese is available for $6.50, and there are other lesser combinations available. Specialty omlettes are frequently on the SPECIALS board as well.
For lunch they have a nice menu of salads, sandwiches, and paninis. I’ve only had lunch here once or twice, usually opting for the breakfast menu regardless of what time of day it is. The Carol’s Country Chicken Salad ($5.75) is quite good. I heard so much about the Monte Cristo ($6.95) here that I tried it once and it was pretty good, although I am not sure that particular taste is for me.
If you are looking for a simple, cozy meal for breakfast or lunch in the Mount Washington Valley, you can’t go wrong dining here. The staff is attentive and my coffee cup gets refilled very quickly. In the summer, crowds do tend to overflow here and there can be a wait, especially on the weekends between 8AM and 10AM. I love it and when I get to choose breakfast, this is my favorite place to go.
