I cannot tell you how much I enjoy these candy bars. I do not get them very often, but when I do, I just LOVE eating them slowing and savoring every last, deliciously sweet, salty bite! If you are not familiar with this candy bar, it is essentially a sweet white nougat center dipped in a light caramel dip and then dipped in peanuts!
This candy bar has been made since around the 1930s and has been one of a couple of Pearsons Candys main sellers! They have quite a history, which you can check out online at www.pearsonscandy.com. They make such items as the Pearsons Mint Patties, Bun Bars and Nut Goodies.
The Product
The Salted Nut Roll isnt as large as I remember them being (when I was younger). But, they still taste just as wonderful. I think the bar was roughly 4 ½ to 5 inches long and roughly the size of a quarter around. The nuts on the bar will be the very first delightful thing you will see when you open up the package! There will be some caramel sneaking through and likely a bit will be on the little cardboard plate that fits underneath the candy bar in the wrapper. This will make the candy bar stick to the cardboard, but the cardboard is slightly glossy and the candy bar will pull off fairly easily without pulling cardboard pieces up with it!
The flavor when you bite into it is a flavor explosion, as it will make your tastes buds think you are eating something salty but then you get hit with the caramel sweetness and then a candy nougat center with a different taste of sweet. The nougat is hard to describe. It kind of reminds me of marshmallow fluff that has been sweetened and firmed up slightly. Dont worry; this wont over power you with sweetness! The combination of the nuts and the sweet caramel and nougat really blend wonderfully! There are also so many nut halves all around this candy bar, you will not find more than a little tiny spot or two that the nuts are not covering the caramel!
The smell is a mix of peanuts and sweet, but the nuts are the main thing that you will smell when you open the package. The nougat center makes up a very small portion of the bar. If I had to put a size to the amount of nougat, I would say its roughly the size of a dime running through the middle of the candy bar!
Nutritional Facts
Now comes the sad part of the candy bar. The nutritional information is based upon 1 candy bar weighing in at 1.8 ounces, so this is NOT the king sized version that you can find in convenience stores! Also, this information is based upon the standard 2,000 calorie diet! This is taken directly from the wrapper with the abbreviations and all!

The Ingredients
These are some of the more straight forward ingredients lists I have seen on products recently:
Peanuts, sugar, corn syrup, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, reduced lactose whey (mil derived), salt, coconut oil, natural and artificial vanilla flavoring, soy lecithin, soy protein, invertase, and TBHQ added to help protect flavor
Overall Impressions
I love these candy bars, always have and likely always will. Do I buy them often: NO! But, I do enjoy them once in a great while. Today was one of those days. I basked in the flavor for a long time, taking a small bite now and again, relishing every last peanut and bit of caramel and nougat! Sweet dreams are truly made of this (for me anyway).
If you have never tried one and you enjoy peanuts and caramel, this is a great candy bar to indulge yourself with once in a while. Give it a shot. I enjoy them and am glad that they are carried in the stores. I noticed about 1 year ago they did something that I used to think sounded excellent for these candy bars dipped them in chocolate!
I tried one and it was ok, but I wasnt very thrilled with the chocolate flavor and thought the bar fell flat. But, I do know that I enjoy this just as it is and will continue to treat myself with these every so often! Enjoy!
