Cons: Might not help some pets who are already trimming-phobic
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this for someone who has animals who haven't learned to fear nail-trimming. Don't treat it as a miracle cure. Training, not gadgets, resolves fear issues.

I, like many other consumers, had seen this advertised on TV and thought it just might be helpful. My "menagerie" includes four dogs, of whom three have a phobia of getting their nails clipped. One, a Weimaraner, is too big to have to be fighting with to get his nails trimmed. The other two include a Rat Terrier and an Australian Cattle Dog, both of whom had been abused by previous owners.
The PediPaws was really offered for a pretty good price, considering that a trip to the vet or a groomer for nail trimming would have been a waste of time and money. It seems to me that I paid about $20 or so. The trimmer itself is fairly compact (about a foot long), considering that it's battery-operated. It uses 2 C batteries.
The biggest advantage to this product is that it files, instead of cutting, the nails. This mostly eliminates the possibility of cutting into the quick, which is what freaks many pets out. I've never managed to get a clean cut using regular, human toenail clippers or guilletine-style clippers. The result of using the PediPaws is a set of neater nails that grow out more evenly and are easier to file down next time.
There are two disadvantages, though. One, the motor does make some noise. It's not terribly loud, but loud enough to make some pets bolt. Also, the written tips included might not help some animals who already have problems with having their paws handled. A dog or cat who's fearful of having their feet touched may require a helper to hold him or her while someone files their nails.
My results with the dogs are as follows: the Rat Terrier and the Cattle Dog are both so fearful of having their claws clipped, the PediPaws makes little difference. The Weimaraner is more cooperative than he was about clippers. The Siberian Husky has a very mellow "surfer dude" personality anyway, so he's not bothered by it.
