It’s Pedigree Breath Busters, a dog biscuit that includes several special ingredients to help fight bad doggie breath. Let’s take a look and see what this treat has to offer:
Characteristics of This Treat:
These treats are small and crunchy, with a shape that is rounded on each end with an inverted roundness on the other two sides, giving it a shape that is, roughly, similar to that of a dog bone. Each treat is about 2 inches in length and 1 inch wide (5 by 2.5 centimeters).
The way these treats attempt to fight bad breath is through the use of special ingredients. Pedigree adds eucalyptus oil and parsley to each dog biscuit to help aid the bad breath- fighting process. You can tell from the moment you open the package that these treats are not typical. The aroma of eucalyptus is evident, giving the treats a smell that is more tolerable than other dog treats, which often tend to be very pungent in odor.

Bad doggie breath is one of the few things that can come between a loyal dog owner and his/her loyal canine friend. All the playing, all the fun, and all the affection can quickly be ruined (even if only temporarily) by a bad case of puppy halitosis.
As far as Pedigree treats go, let’s just say that these treats provide an inexpensive way to combat some of the less offensive cases of bad breath in dogs. I have purchased a couple bags of these treats for my dog and I can detect a difference in his breath after he chomps down a couple of these treats. But I caution dog owners whose canine companion’s breath is really bad. If your dog’s breath is causing flowers to wilt as it prances past your rose garden, then Pedigree Breath Busters will probably not even put a dent into solving the problem. These treats only solve the more mild cases of bad breath. In fact, with my dog I noticed that the eucalyptus smell (the main ingredient that helps to hide the bad breath) was gone only a short time after he ate the treats. A few hours or so after eating, I took him outside and I quickly noticed that his breath was back to its old self again. The biscuits had only a temporary effect. But in my instance, it was good enough since my dog’s breath isn’t all that bad anyway. I was still fairly satisfied with the results. The treats met my expectations.
Pedigree Breath Buster biscuits are small, and they come in an even smaller variety for small breeds. A single pouch, though, has enough biscuits to last through a few weeks of treat- giving. As long as you don’t get too carried away with feeding your dog these treats, they should last for a good amount of time. There are about 25- 30 biscuits in a bag, which is enough to last through a few weeks of feeding.
As far as the nutritional value, these treats are fairly good when compared to others. They are low in fat and there are only a few preservatives in the list of ingredients. And the fact that they are crunchy helps to clean your dog’s teeth better than a soft treat.
Pedigree recommends serving these as a treat or after meals. Obviously, you wouldn’t want to serve these before a meal because any positive bad- breath fighting effects would be eliminated by consuming a regular meal. If your dog is medium in size, Pedigree recommends serving up to three biscuits per day. If your dog is large, Pedigree recommends up to five biscuits per day. There is no recommendation for smaller dogs (probably because Pedigree would prefer that you purchase the smaller size biscuits that it sells), but it would be safe to assume that the limit would be one or two biscuits per day.
Overall, Pedigree Breath Busters is a good product. The biscuits do have a more pleasant smell than other dog treats (albeit a tad medicinal) and they do manage to help control, in a small way, the problem of canine halitosis. If your dog has a serious case of bad breath, you really shouldn’t waste your time with these biscuits. A more advanced case of bad breath requires treatment by a veterinarian. But for more minor cases of bad doggie breath, Pedigree Breath Busters can come in handy. They can temporarily eliminate some of that foul odor emanating from your dog’s mouth and help strengthen the bond between canine and owner.
