Pedros Bio Cleaner
(info from Pedros website)
Environmentally friendly all-purpose bicycle cleaner and degreaser.
Great to use all over the bicycle.
Safe on plastic and rubber.
Many uses around the house.
Made with the finest ingredients.
While a decent number of owners know to lubricate their chain and cables, very few people give any thought to the care and cleaning of their bicycle. Most bikes have accumulated a thin coating of road dirt, tar spatters, grease, and chain oil, bugs and bird debris, and other messy residue of busy days on the trails.
----- Gotta get the grease off somehow -----
It's going to happen eventually if you ride your bike very often or very far. Instead of reaching for dish soap or (heaven forbid) regular degreaser for auto parts, pick up a spray bottle of Pedros Bio Cleaner. Pedros prides itself on being the best in the market for not only lubricants (Extra Dry, Road Rage, Syn Lube) and polishes (Bike Lust), but also cleaners and degreasers (Orange Peelz & Bio Cleaner).
You can find Bio Cleaner (BC) in 12oz pump-spray ($7), 14oz aerosol can ($10), 32oz hand-spray ($11), and 1 gallon shop-size ($32) depending on your needs. The pump-spray bottle is the easiest to use initially and the easiest to find in bike shops. The downside to Pedros pump-spray design is they dont have a very reliable pump, in fact Ive never finished a bottle with the sprayer still working. Id recommend the actual spray bottle which looks just like a Windex or bathroom cleaner sprayer. You could also use the aerosol sprayer which shoots a good stream, but it's the least cost-effective packaging.
Where should you use Bio Cleaner? Thats easy, absolutely anywhere thanks to the biodegradable nature of Pedros formula. Above all Pedros tries to live in harmony with nature and keep our trails clean. Obviously lubricants are petroleum based and arent biodegradable, but both Bio Cleaner and Orange Peelz are made to be sprayed on the trail or in the parking lot. You can use it on a lot more than bikes for that matter, Ive used in around my garage quite a bit while working on my vehicles and motorcycle. Just so you know it does strip oil, polish, and wax from whatever its sprayed on, so be sure to follow up BC with either polish or lubricant depending on the surface.
As a chain degreaser BC works quite well although Park Chain Brite cleaning fluid works better. To degrease your chain spray a liberal amount of BC while pedaling backward with your hand. Let it soak in for a bit then wipe off the chain using a shop-cloth or rag wrapped around the chain. Leave the chain for a bit before reapplying lube.
For the rest of your bike BC is very simple to use, spray, wipe, repeat. Pedros BD cuts just about everything except for bug guts (from those roof-rack highway drives) since bug juice is mostly protein. Ive enjoyed using BC ever since I found it a few years ago, it makes weekly/monthly bike maintenance much easier & consequently Im more likely to keep my bike looking good. If you like a clean bike and dont mind doing a little maintenance yourself, Id recommend trying a small bottle of Bio Cleaner and seeing if it works for you.
