While pregnant, many parents spoke highly of PEG-PEREGO products. So when it was time to purchase a high chair we focused on and bought the PEG-PEREGO PRIMA PAPPA which has a 5 point harness, 3 position recline and 7 height adjustment choices not to mention the numerous choices of patterns or solids.
DURABILITY: My husband and I purchased the high chair when our daughter was several months old but did not actually start using it until she started eating baby cereal with a spoon at 4 months old. She is now 14 months old and it has held up very well showing little wear, no parts missing nor have we had to replace any part of the chair.
PRACTICALITY: Our daughter is on the small side weighing only 21lbs & 28 3/4 inches tall at 14months old. You can only imagine what she looked like in the chair at 4months old - it appeared to "swallow" her. We had to take the tray off in order to feed her. We occasionally used the recline when she would fall asleep while eating - the kid can sleep anywhere! The height adjustment made feeding easier as it can be lowered or raised according to preference and necessity. We soon learned it was more practical to leave the high chair as is when not in use than to fold it up and push it to the side. However, it is fairly easy to fold up - after a little practice it's not too hard. Great baby feature - an oversized walker when left not folded up!! If the wheels get into locked position, it does not prevent the chair from moving and will leave marks on our kitchen floor.
CLEANING: I found it easy to clean with some 409 but there are some "hidden" creases where the back of the seat meets the actual seat and little noodles or unwanted bites of pancakes can hide. However, it is easy just to lift the padded seat up away from the hard plastic & clean under it where I find most of the debris. The vinyl cover is one continuous piece but does have a small opening in both back corners to allow the harness to be attached to the chair itself. These holes allow the food to go under the vinyl cover.
HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT: This feature is great because the chair can be lowered slightly to table height or to make feeding more comfortable for mom or dad. It is also a great feature when using with a toddler - it can act as a table. Our daughter likes the drive-thru affect - come by take a few cheerios & keep moving.
SAFETY: The lap strap is sufficient until the child learns how to maneuver their legs & stand up - for us it was about 10 1/2months old. We found that if the lap strap is secure enough but NOT too tight our daughter cannot stand up. BUT I would NEVER leave the room with only the lap strap on. When my daughter is sitting completely upright the strap lays between her thighs and waist - if she slouches it is at her waist. That's when the harness is very helpful. We also have the model that has the fixed piece between the legs - excellent addition to the PRIMA PAPPA.
OVERALL: Not a bad chair but a little "pricey" for some of the unperfected bells and whistles.
