Pros: Comparatively light next to price point competitors. Price is good. Quiet on the water.
Cons: Scratches easily, may be too tippy for inexperienced paddlers, no included paddles.
The Bottom Line: Based on its toughness, its sale price, and its all-purpose use Pelican has a winner with the Colorado.

I purchased this canoe from Dick's Sporting Goods in Wisconsin. I got it mainly for the weight and price combination. I got it for $280 new, which is a steal for a canoe of its size. You could spend much more (try 5 times more than the $280 I paid) for an ultra light canoe which does not lend itself to the abuse or rigors of family use or fishing.
I have taken the canoe out four times already this year on the edges of Lake Winnebago, which for most folks is larger than any lake in their state, to see how it tracked and checks it's stability. For the price I would say it is a stable canoe that tracks well and is quiet on the water. It held up to small waves and medium winds quite well. Each time I took it out it had to be lifted on top of the car and put on my Yakima Rack. My girlfriend and I have no problems doing so, we are both under 150 pounds and she is petite. Canoes over 80 pounds pose problems for petite or weaker adults for lifting overhead or for long portages. I recommend this canoe to anyone who can get a good deal on it, I am very happy I did. One of the negatives about the canoe is that it does not come with paddles. More money, huh? It's actually just as well for most people because paddlers should be sized to the individual person based on how the sit in relation to the water level they are paddling in. There are several sites that can help you size a paddle if you do a quick Google search. When you have the properly sized paddles you can move and control the canoe more efficiently and with reduced fatigue.
I look forward to the rest of my summer with this canoe and will update this review with further notations as I take the canoe on the Chain of Lakes, the Brule River in Michigan, and various other trips I have planned.
