hicksons's Full Review: Pentax IQZoom 115M 35mm Film Camera
This camera was a wedding gift. It's the best camera I've ever owned, but then I've never owned any really good cameras. The picture quality is pretty good. And I think it is or was the smallest 35mm camera you can buy.
It's easy to reload the films.
The zoom is pretty good, but really noisy. This can be a real problem. We took this camera with us to a couple of weddings, and now we've pretty much decided we can't do that anymore. When the couple's saying their vows, and are looking oh so romantic it's the perfect time to take a nice close up shot right? Wrong! Not with this camera anyway. Whenever we tried everyone's attention would be taken off the bride and groom and onto us ... how embarassing.
Seriously, if you are looking for a nice small camera for casual use, then this is it. But for anything more, or for quiet use, forget it, buy something else.
Features:
1) Date stamping - allows you to imprint the date on each print. Can be switched on and off.
2) Zoom 38mm-115mm is a powered zoom, but is extremely noisy.
3) Auto flash - this can be switched off, or on manually also.
4) Slow shutter - with or without the use of flash. I've taken some really nice skyline pictures of San Francisco using this feature.
5) Panorama mode.
6) Red-eye feature - though not very good, some cameras use 2 flashes to this which I like, this one just shines a little white light that's not very powerful ... probably saves on batteries though.
7) Self-timer 10 second delay, for taking a picture that you want to be in.
8) Optional remote - I bought the optional remote which works with or without the timer. Quite useful if you want to get in the picture and not have to run to it, or if you want to take a slow shutter picture and want to avoid moving the camera by pressing the shutter. The remote allows you to zoom as well. I don't know what you do with it when the battery runs out though ... maybe it's disposable!!! (Costs about $10-15)
