| helloworldz's Full Review: Pentax Optio 430RS Digital Camera |
There are several motives for buying a digital camera;
one is price - everything you really want is about a thousand dollars more than you are willing to spend. This camera though expensive is I feel good value.
another is Picture quality - though some people will tell you that that is the only thing that matters, do not be fooled. Size and what I would call handiness are just as important if not more important to some people. If your camera produces the best quality pictures, but you don't have it with you because it is too bulky to carry around with you all the time or it eats batteries too fast, well, you just will not capture the picture that I will with the Optio 430RS.
I was quite surprised by the quality build of this camera. The battery life - though not incredible is very good, much better than I expected from such a small battery. The first day I took it out I shot 140 shots in high resolution and 2 movies, using a mix of flash and screen on most of the time - all on one battery charge.
That being as positive as it is - I must comment that the picture quality leaves something to be desired. There is far too much noise in sky, and it does not do very well in dark shots. If they only added the ability to save in RAW mode this camera would be close to perfect.
