Great Camera.... but it is no K 1000.

Pros: Great camera for photography students; or creative photographers.
Cons: For a camera to be manual it should be totally manual; this is not.
The Bottom Line: Good camera but it is not a true manual camera.

I once saw an ad that listed the Pentax ZXM as the new K 1000; honestly the only thing that I can say about that is "I don't think so...". Please do not get me wrong I am no saying that the ZXM is a bad camera as a matter of fact it is a very good camera.
I have owned my Pentax ZXM for almost two years now and I tend to use it when I am shooting photos that I intend to become part of my portfolio. For this day and age it is a great camera for those just starting out in the world of photography or for somebody like me who get tired of a fully automatic camera and want to put his or her own talents to work and see what images can be created when you want turn away from the hi-tech portion photography for a while.
In saying that, I must give credit to the Pentax K 1000. This was the camera that I learned on and I feel that I have a more solid understanding of photography because of what I learned using a K 1000; and also I know that my Pentax K 1000 will be around for years to come because it is made of metal. In photography Schools it is still the standard. Although I like the ZXM very much I guess I am still a little bias toward the K1000.
I encourage those who are considering going into photography beyond point and shoot and want to experience creating photographs out side of the digital world to try a Pentax ZXM. You will learn a lot using it. It is great for those who are learning and excellent for those who like to raise the bar.
