Of course, my grand children are very sophisticated and are quite partial to the Milanos and Piroettes. What can I tell you, they have expensive taste. It's my fault I always have Pepperidge Farm Milanos in the house and of course they can sniff out my stash blindfolded.
One grand son loves chocolate the other loves vanilla so the Pepperidge Farm Black & White works for both of them. The chocolate center and chocolate side goes to the younger grandson, the chocolate maven. The vanilla cookie goes to the older grand son, everyone is happy. My grand girls just eat the cookies whole. They can actually happily share these. They carefully break them in the middle, sometimes they're successful sometimes not. They'll dip part in their milk or just eat them as is.
The cookies are beautifully packaged in little crimped white paper cups inside the package. The top of the bag can be refolded to keep the cookies fresh if they're are any left after the kids get to them. You can often find these on sale or in a bogo (buy one get one free). Ordinarily they run around $3.00.
The cookie part is oval and has a butter cookie texture which is fabulous especially for a store bought cookie. The inside is creamy chocolate, not too sweet, not to bitter and a great taste and texture against the butter cookie.
These hold up well for dipping and if you've ever used ladyfingers in making a dessert these look fabulous as a replacement for the lady fingers.
According to the packaging they "begin with a baker's soul. Seek the finest ingredients. Explore natures infinite variety of flavors and textures
sweet, crunchy, rich
Oh, and Chocolate"
Pepperidge Farm prides themselves in the way they create "The Art of the Cookie"
the classic Milano cookie. Simple. Elegant. The perfect balance of exquisite cookies and luxuriously rich dark chocolatein irresistible varieties to match any mood.
Pepperidge Farm cookies were final outcome of a company started based on bread. A Margeret Fogerty Rudkin lived on an actual farm called Pepperidge Farm in Connecticut. She started by making a special loaf of bread created to ease the eating issues of a highly allergic child. In the 1950's she traveled to Belgium where she was astounded by the excellent pastries and she reached an agreement with the Delacre a company there, to produce the marvelous Pepperidge Farm cookies using there recipes. Later her company was bought by Campbell foods where it became a producer of the multiple products we know today.
I think Pepperidge Fsrm cookies in general are an excellent indulgence, lovely for entertaining and a nice treat for the sophisticated children of the world.I'm a long time fan of Pepperidge Farm brands, their bread, their cookies, their snacks.
