Pros: Works to some degree.
Cons: Taste, mixed results, overall value, some home remedies may be just as effective.
The Bottom Line: I personally dislike the product as it had mix results on my symptoms, poor taste, and not a great value overall.

| DeRango's Full Review: Pepto-Bismol Original Formula Liquid |
I personally have never been a fan of any type of liquid medicine, even as a young child I can remember avoiding the bubble gum flavored Amoxicillin. This being no exception on taste keeping the actual medicine down can be part of the battle. Seeing that the liquid is for flu like symptoms of diarrhea and stomach aches it almost induces vomiting as the thick coating and mint taste does not agree with my body. Usually upon usage, I chase the pink mint good down with some water or other clear liquid as if Im doing a shot of tequila. (Of course that would require a lemon wedge & salt)
Usage of Pepto-Bismol has also rendered mix results in the claims department as sometimes my stomach grows worse, which causes me to vomit. Indigestion is a bit of a problem I have experienced the product coating my stomach, but just sits like a brick in my belly not actually solving the issue. When dealing with so many issues I personally look to an alternative source of home remedies noted at the bottom of the reviews, and I have found that these remedies work just as good if not better than using some over the counter drug found at Walgreens.

Stop use and ask a doctor if
-Symptoms get worse
-Ringing in the ears or loss of hearing occurs
-Diarrhea lasts more than 2 days
-If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use.
Keep out of reach of children. In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
*Some sound advice, I would also recommend with children especially to contact a doctor and at least seek his consul in any case, as to describe the symptoms & issues so if the condition merits a visit he can speak to you about that over the phone.
Directions
-Shake well before use
-For accurate dosing, use dose cup
-Adults and children 12 years and over:
-1 dose (2 Tbsp or 30 ml) every ½ to 1 hour as needed
-Do not exceed 8 doses (16 Tbsp or 240 ml) in 24 hours
-Use until diarrhea stops but not more than 2 days
-Children under 12 years: ask a doctor
-Drink plenty of clear fluids to help prevent dehydration caused by diarrhea
Also I highly recommend drinking clear liquids to keep hydrated during a flu or diarrhea symptoms, this can be deadly especially in younger children. This also helps in a hangover as dehydration brings your system back to an isotonic state.

Overall
I personally recommend tablets, as they have a longer shelf life, they are more transportable, and easier to take in the proper dosage. My experience with the liquid is somewhat of a mixture between success and worsening conditions. The side effects are mild, but still present as I have experienced some of the warnings above. The product is not easy to stomach, the taste test can be described as a: Thick Chalky Mint Flavored Pasty substance that coats you throat as it goes down and you can feel it inside your stomach as it makes it way down. Finally I personally do not like the product in liquid form and I have had much better luck with popping the pills.
Alternative Recommendations
I have some home remedies that have worked for me in clearing up stomach issues & indigestion include: Eating dry toast, sipping ginger ale or clear sodas warm, almost any form of peppermint candy, oil, or leaves, (Sorry no Chocolate!) and drinking hot tea with a mild touch of honey. Most of these remedies are proven forms of treatment as I found that this product comes in a different form containing peppermint oil. For heartburn this may not work for all people as I am sure someone will comment about intolerance of dairy or something of that nature, I drink milk after a meal like my Moms homemade pasta with lots of acidy tomatoes.
Best of luck finding something that cures your symptoms & makes you feel great again!
