Pros:Easy to use, effective, allows bulk addition/withdrawal.
Cons:Can be slow to load the coins.
The Bottom Line: If you're looking for a more defined way to store your change, or a gift idea for a kid you want to teach some money discipline too, look here!
Up until recently, for my loose change sorting, I had been using a Money Miser automatic change sorter. In recent years, the proliferation of "Coinstar" machines at many grocery stores/Wal-Marts replaced my need to wrap my own money, as I found the 8% fee at Coinstar was well worth the time/leg work of simply dragging a bucket to the store that I was going to anyway.

So basically I had a plastic dish that I dropped all my change in. One of the problems I had is I generally wanted to wait until I had $50 in coins or so before I bothered to redeem them, and I had to basically guess. Sometimes I was right, other times I wasn't. A full dish of change can alter drastically in value of there are a whole lot more pennies than quarters. Obviously, this was not the most efficient thing in the world. Especially for people who are saving their change for something special (as many do, such as vacations) you kind of want to know where you're at or if you're close to a goal.
Enter the Perfect Solutions Money Jar. This is quite simply a plastic jar with a lid on it, and when you slide a coin into the slot, the digital counter adds it up. It goes into sort of a "sleep" mode when not in use, so the batteries don't get waste. If you decide to take a bunch of change out, you can also switch to subtract mode, and it allows you to bulk add to the count if you know what you are adding, as individually sliding in coins can be a bit time consuming. If you know you're dropping in $2, easier to pop the lid, drop it in, and add it in.
Sure, there's ways you can do this yourself without a special jar. But for simplicity, and especially for kids, the Money Jar is an excellent solution. It dosn't take up much space, doesn't look all that bad, and it does the job.
All in all if you're looking for a more efficient coin storing solution, or a gift for the kid who almost has it all, this baby's a solid choice. For me, it was a Christmas gift from Gram, so therefore it becomes a no brainer. :)
