Pros: Memory foam, contours to head/neck/spine, soft cover, good comfort, hypo-allergenic
Cons: Needs a bit more of a build-up on the contour section
My husband wanted a new pillow to catch some Zzz's, particularly after his long days at the hospital so we found some nifty Memory Foam Contour Pillows at Sears. We had tested out the Tempurpedic Contour Pillow, but unfortunately the price was too high, so we compromised with the Personal Expressions Memory Foam Contour Pillow.
The Personal Expressions Memory Foam Contour Pillow is made of Visco-Elastic Memory Foam. The pillow measures 15" x 20" x 5" and has a terry velour cover that is included. It retails for approximately $25; we purchased ours from Sears.

When my husband and I brought our new Personal Expressions Memory Foam Contour Pillows home, I removed the pillows from the plastic wrap and set them outside on the couch to air out. I knew from experience with our memory foam mattress that the product would have some sort of chemical-like scent to it initially, which was why I allowed the pillows to sit out for a day or two prior to use.
Care and Cleaning
Even though the Memory Foam Contour Pillow comes with a very soft and luxurious terry velour cover, I still put pillow covers on the pillows to protect them. It is easy to remove the terry velour cover as there is a zipper that goes along the side and the top of the pillow. The cover can be machine washed in warm water and mild soap and then tumble dried on low heat. The foam core can be spot cleaned with cool water and mild soap, squeeze out excess water and allow the pillow to air dry. The foam core should never be placed in the washer or drier.
I was a bit concerned about the firmness of the pillow because it seemed slightly on the squishy side when I first took it out of the box. However, when I use the pillow, I find that the firmness is perfect. It isn't too squishy and holds very well when my head rests on it. There is some give from the foam, but this is not excessive and the slight give makes the pillow quite comfortable.
The Memory Foam Contour Pillow is quite comfortable because the pillow has contours that help align the head and neck with the spine. The bottom contour is a bit lower than the top contour. However, being a sidelying and stomach sleeper, I find that the bottom contour is just a wee-bit low for me. I tried flipping the pillow upside down so that the taller contour could support my neck, but then that was too high! I decided to sleep using the lower contour. My husband loves his pillow and finds the contours to be a perfect level; he is a back-sleeper.
What I love about the pillow is that it is hypo-allergenic. I have noticed that since using the Memory Foam Contour Pillow, my allergies have improved significantly. The previous pillow must have been filled with dustmites -- yuck! I no longer wake up in the mornings with congestion or post-nasal drip.
Personal Expression Claims
I can't say that the pillow helps to reduce snoring, insomnia, and stress because neither my husband or I snore. We sleep through the night well with the pillows. We don't suffer from insomnia. And for the last claim, if this pillow reduced stress, I would carry it with me to work every day! The pillow does help to align the head, neck, and spine and it does mold and contour nicely to provide optimum comfort.
The Personal Expressions Memory Foam Contour Pillow is a nice, less expensive version of the Tempurpedic Contour Pillow. The Personal Expressions pillow offers comfort, affordability, and a good night's rest.
