The kids were out of shampoo again and I was pressured to buy another bottle at the grocery store which didn’t have a large kid’s selection. I just so happened to have a $1 coupon for Kids Pert so I figured that would have to do.

I was pleased to find that this worked pretty well on all three of the hair types that we have. My son has thick short hair. It is good at removing his styling glue and a leaves a normal appearance in his hair. I noticed that hair has appeared cleaner and softer since he started using it.

My daughter has shoulder length straight hair that requires conditioning. Kids Pert works great in her hair too. It leaves her straight hair bouncy and no added conditioner or hair detangler is required when she gets out of the tub. She likes the scent as well.

My youngest still has baby-fine hair and usually has sticky things in her hair. Kids Pert has easily taken out the stickiness and made her hair manageable. The shampoo lathers up a lot so I am able to make designs in her hair, and it rinses out easily. I can also comb her hair immediately from the bath easily without added products.

Just for Kids
Pert boasts that this shampoo is pH balanced for a kids hair which seems accurate but I don’t know how that compares to other kids shampoos. Kids Pert boasts of tangle-fighting conditioner and they’re right, it does eliminate the need for extra products and their hair is much more tangle-free than usual. Finally, the bottle states that it is a Tear-free formula which I’ll assume is true. We haven’t had any issues with the eyes so far.

How to Use
This is used like any other shampoo and the PH Balance was designed to be gentle enough to be used on a daily basis without damaging hair. Apply a small about to hair, lather, and rinse out.

Shampoo plus Condition
This product is hair shampoo with an added conditioner in the shampoo which means only one step is needed. This is a great savings both in time and money when the 2 in 1 works. My past experiences with 2 in 1 have been pretty bad however Kids Pert actually pulls it off well.

About the Smell
The smell is called Bananaberri and smells like a processed banana. My son doesn’t like the smell and I’m not overly fond of it but for now that’s the only choice on the shelf. The smell isn’t noticeable in passing but if you get close and smell the hair you can still smell it the next day.

About the Bottle
The bottle is a thin tall lime green bottle with a banana and a strawberry surfing together on a wave. The bottle has a flat flip top lid which is easy to open but does not prevent water from entering if it fell in a tub of water. The bottle can sit upside down on its own to get the most out of the bottle.

Where to buy
I found this bottle located with the adult Pert products in the grocery store. Other stores may group it in the kids hair care section. The bottle retails for around $3 a bottle.

Overall
I had low expectations for this product but found that it was superior to other kid’s shampoos that we had tried. I am impressed with the shampoo and conditioning ability and immediately saw noticeable results. I would buy it again but do hope that more fragrances are introduced soon.
