Pros: NO dust, great odor control, safe for kittens to eat
Cons: Must keep to proper depth or you'll be chiseling some used bits out of box
The Bottom Line: This is one item that while expensive is worth every Swheat penny. Truly safe for kittens, septic and sewers, helpful with my cat with asthma.

Swheat Scoop wheat litter is a "swheat solution" to helping keep my American Curl with asthma breathing easily.
I've an adult American Curl, Ophelia, who was diagnosed with asthma this past Fall. Nothing is worse than seeing an animal you love struggle to breathe, and you will do anything you can to prevent or minimize such difficulties. Part of the solution for Ophelia has been to find a litter that was NOT dusty - not when poured into the litter box, and not when being vigorously dug into - Miss Ophelia is diligent in her belief that one should dig deep and bury well. Swheat Scoop has been a god-send discovery.
Swheat Scoop - Is It Really Sweet?
This litter is made from finely ground "naturally processed wheat", it has a pleasant aroma of grain, is light tan in color. As the litter is used, the wet portions have a grainy smell that is not offensive, especially as it blessedly lacks that distinctive pungent ammonia smell that cat urine usually has.

-Safe for Sewers
-Completely Biodegradable
-Clumps reasonably well
-Safe if Ingested (as we all have seen, kittens first learning to use a litter box will taste the litter, do you really want them eating perfumed bits and odor control crystals?)

Cons
Must keep the litter to a proper depth and follow tips for product usage or you will require a chisel to clean the bottom and lower sides of your litter box.
What Are The Product Usage Tips?
To be honest, I haven't tried these tips yet, but since I am tired of doing chisel work, I will be! I can attest to the fact that if I keep a good depth of litter in the box, it does cut down on used litter adhering like sand to the dunes of the Sahara, to the bottom and sides of the box.
The Tips (from the package)
To Use
-Keep a 4 inch level in the box, and make that 5 inches deep if you've a larger breed of cat (such as Siberian, Maine Coon or oversized American Curl.)or if multiple cats will be using the box.
-spray the bottom of the clean litter pan with a non-stick cooking spray or first spread 1 to 2 handfuls of baking soda, then fill. Or place a cut section of wax paper (however, like liners, this would be useless if your cat digs vigorously and has toe nails of sufficient length to rip the paper).
To Dispose Of
-for flushing, break large clumps into smaller ones first
- soak clumps before flushing, in the toilet bowl IF the clumps are over 24 hours old (in other words, clean daily!).
Final Thoughts
I love this stuff! The only drawback (possible chisel work required) has not been such a problem compared to the positive aspects. Miss Ophelia's asthma is not triggered by this litter, it clumps well, is environmentally friendly, and is easy to clean (lightweight when wet especially compared to silica based clumping litters or clay litters).
It is expensive, the one problem that is hard to overcome. However I do have a tip. Comparison shop! There is a $4 a bag price difference in my area between two of the super pet chain stores for the same size. Not only is there the store difference, you will find a break in price by buying the larger size. Swheat Scoop is available in a 7, 14,25 and even a 40 lb. bag. However, I've yet to see the 40 lb. bag available in the stores where I shop. Be sure to take advantage of their Frequent Buyer Program. Inside each bag is a bright orange coupon telling you that if you save 12 such coupons, and 12 upc symbols, you can mail these in to receive a coupon for a free bag of the same size you've been purchasing. What a Swheat deal!
