Pet Food Can Covers by Ethical Products
Written: Apr 24, 2012

Pros:fits small and large cans, inexpensive
Cons:no idea what they are made from
The Bottom Line: Ethical Products Pet Food Can Covers do the job covering my small and large pet food cans.
I used to get free pet food covers from a pet store where I bought things but since we moved the new pet store does not do that. I needed to buy some more lids to replace some that my dishwasher melted. I decided to go to Amazon and see if I could find some and found the Ethical Products 3 pack. I purchased 2 sets so that I would not run out.
Description
The lids I got have three different colors in each package. The colors seem random. I got mostly pink, a blue and a green. On the top of the lid the word "Spot" is embossed. They are made of a soft inexpensive feeling plastic. I am not sure what the plastic is made from or if it is BPA free as it does not say on the packaging. I do wonder about what these are made from.
The lids are sized so that they can fit on either a large 5.5oz can or a smaller 3oz can. They have two rings inside so you can fit it on either size. The lids also fit on my regular tall cans too so they are very versatile.
Using The Ethical Products Pet Food Can Covers
I have not had any problems with using the lids. I mainly use them on the larger cans and find that the extra head room is nice because I have to mix pumpkin in to his can and that way I can heap a little more and still fit the lid on. I also use them for my cans of pumpkin to keep them covered in the fridge. I am relatively satisfied with the covers but wish I knew what sort of plastic this was. I worry a little bit about using something that may not be the best thing to cover food with. I continue to look for can lids that state that they are BPA free but so far I have not found any.
Clean up
The lids say to wash with soapy water but I put mine on the top shelf of the dishwasher and try to put a glass over them so they will not go flying. So far they have retained their size shape and fit and I feel better about them being washed at the high temp in the dishwasher and getting a good rinse to get any detergent off the lids.
