We purchased this fence when we first got our dogs. It seemed like the idea system to contain our dogs when they were in the yard playing. The label on the box made it sound simple to install and safe for our dogs.
First of all the instructions are very misleading. The fence was extremely difficult to install. The fence must be buried around the perimeter of your house and this is no easy feat. Then there is a lengthy training regiment involved with the dog.
The receiver collar gives the dog an electric jolt in the neck when they get close to the perimeter. The problem we had at first was the tuning of the collar. At first when the dogs were in the yard the collar would go off to soon and tuning the collar is very hard. We later found out this practice of electric shock is considered in-humane by many. After we finally got the collar tuned the dogs would just run through the fence taking the pain.
We finally gave up and dug up the fence and returned the product. We received a refund(reluctantly) and built a real fence.
