Because we have a large number of cats in our household, pet hair became a big problem. I was spending too much time vacuuming it from the carpets and brushing it from the upholstery. So, when I saw an infomercial advertising the Pet Zoom Self Cleaning Grooming Brush, it wasn't a hard sell. I ordered the product and it came fairly quickly by Fedex. When I opened the box, I was a little surprised to see two bright blue brushes inside. For some reason, I expected only one brush. I guess in my enthusiasm I hadn't listened to the advertisement too closely!
The large brush is about six inches wide and the other about four inches wide, both with curved plastic handles. The brushes are lightweight and easy to use. Reading the instructions, I found that the smaller one was what they call the "Pamper Size". I use the Pamper Size on all the kittens and the larger Pet Zoom for the adult cats.
The set also includes a trimmer attachment for the Pamper Size, which can be used to trim back the pet's hair and remove fur balls, knots, gum and other things that might get caught in the pet's coat. Using the trimmer attachment is very easy. One side of the trimmer blade is for short hair and the other for long. You just attach the trimmer to the brush and brush as usual. The Pet Zoom Self Cleaning Grooming Brush can be used to groom both cats and dogs no matter the length of the coats. This was appealing to me since I have cats with both long and short coats. I've even used it the brushes those rare times when my cats "allow" me to bathe them.
The self cleaning feature is a definite plus. I had always used a regular wire pet brush to groom the cats but hated cleaning it afterward. With the Pet Zoom, there is a small button on top of each brush that releases the unwanted hair after each use. Just hold the brush over a wastebasket and press the button twice. The accumulated hair is released and pops out of the brush. This is much better than using a regular pet brush where the unwanted hair has to be removed with a comb or by hand. With this product, my hand never has to touch the hair and the brush is ready to be used again right away. Using the Pet Zoom, I can brush all 10-plus cats in less than 30 minutes. Even the more "sensitive" cats don't mind being brushed.
The bristles on the Pet Zoom look like wire but are actually a softer material that doesn't irritate pet skin. And the widely-spaced bristles mean no painful tugging on the fur when brushing. While some of the cats seem indifferent to the Pet Zoom, most seem to like it and don't have to be held while brushing. They just sit there and enjoy the experience.
The Pet Zoom is a very effective product as well as an affordably-priced one. The set of two brushes and trimming tool were $19.95 plus shipping and handling. As far as durability does, I think this product could last indefinitely, making it even more of a bargain and a great alternative to expensive trips to a professional groomer. And, in my case, it also saves me hours of vacuuming time!
