Pros: 5 lbs of dog food stored in a sealed container
Cons: The clock is awful and doesn’t keep time when turned off
The Bottom Line: Once you got it set up, your dog will be fed and your 15 lbs of dog food doesn't need to take up room in your kitchen.

| jckatz's Full Review: Petmate Le Bistro Electronic Portion Control Feede... |
Let me say this from the start, this product is far from perfect. And in all honestly some of the problems I have there are NO EXCUSES for. This is the year 2008 and even a $1 clock made in China should be able to keep time. That being said, I love this product and will recommend it for the price.
What is it?
Just what are you getting for $50? The top of the unit is like a water jug you get form Sparkling Spring, but with a top that comes off, this allows you to pour 5 lbs of DRY dog food into the storage area. The bottom of the unit is a base, a release device and of course a food bowl.
After programming the unit (no easy task even with instructions) the unit will release a set amount of food up two 3 times a day. My dog only weights 11 lbs so I release the smallest amount of food twice a day for her.
The clock
As I mentioned the units clock has lots of problems, this might be related to the batteries 3 Ds. The other problem is when I leave there is an off switch (good so you food bowl isnt feeding the local mice) but bad since the clock doesnt keep time when it is off. You will find yourself resetting everything when you come back.
The settings
As I mentioned before you set the amount of food given out during a feeding
1=1/4 cup
2=1/2 cup
3=3/4 cup
4=1 cup, etc
The time is also confusing NOON equal 00:00 NOT 12:00 as it would be military time. This explained why my dog was getting fed at yet 1 PM is what you would expect.
You need to set a time for breakfast lunch and dinner then select 1 (YES) or 0 (NO) for meals being dispensed.
Why I love this unit
OK so far Ive down nothing but complain about the unit, but the truth of the matter is ONCE it is set up, it dispense food for your pet. Allows you to keep the large bag of food in storage out of the way, and makes sure the food you do have out is kept fresh and away from hungry or playful mouths.
