Roll that smelly litter up and away!

Written: Dec 27 '03
Pros:Easy to use, Eliminates odors, Saves time
Cons:Expensive refills, could be larger
The Bottom Line: I love the litter locker. It saves me time and helps my house smell less like a zoo than before!

I have been using the litter locker for about a month now and I believe it was worth every penny it cost. I have two cats who share one large litter box. I previously hated scooping the litter box because I had nowhere to put the dirty litter. I live in an apartment and taking it outside right away was not practical, yet putting it in my garbage also was not a very good option.

What it does

The litter locker is a genius invention. It basically is a big plastic sleeve attached to a wheel with an opening at the top. Each time you add waste you turn the wheel and the litter is wrapped tightly in the plastic.

Ease of use:

Once I assembled the litter locker for the first time and saw how everything worked it was very easy to use. The initial set up and refilling involves tying a knot in the plastic, tucking it into the wheel, and putting the plastic refills in place. That’s it! To empty the litter locker you open it up, cut the plastic, tie a knot, and dump the big plastic sack in the garbage. At this point most of the litter is wrapped in multiple sheets of plastic so there really isn’t any smell.

Using the litter locker in between changes couldn’t be easier. You dump the waste into the opening and turn the wheel!

The downside

The only annoying part about the litter locker that I’ve run into is the frequency that you need to empty it. I found that with 2 cats I needed to empty the litter locker about once every five days. I needed to replace the plastic refills about once every three weeks. The refills cost about $8, which I find a bit steep.

The upside

It’s odorless. I can’t smell anything coming from the litter locker.

It’s any easy way to quickly get rid of the waste from the litter box without using up lots of grocery sacks, smelling up your trash, or clogging up your septic system.
