MARIEROY's Full Review: Petstages Kitty Cuddle Pal
The first thing you see on the packaging of Petstages products are the words "soothing." Whoever thought of this marketing techniques had to have experience with raising "puppies" or dogs that are easily excited.
The Puppy Cuddle Pal is just one more toy that can help to either calm your puppy or distract your puppy from potentially destroying an object it isn't supposed to be playing with.
When you have plenty of toys for your puppy to either chew or play with, there will be very little destruction in your home. A friend of mine had a puppy who chewed its way through one arm of her sofa and she needed to replace the sofa.
So far with all the products now available, either repellents, chew toys, or these toys that propose to soothe, all of it helps pet owners make their way through what can be the most difficult time when owning a dog...that first year, and do it safely.
It all can work, but takes time, especially training the pup.
I spotted the Puppy Cuddle Pal while taking my puppy through Petsmart yesterday. Okay I knew she already has umpteen toys, which I rotate so she doesn't get bored with them. But I found myself throwing this toy into the basket along with other things I bought for her.
During cold winter months I have one of those aromatherapy pads that I put into the microwave to heat it up and then cuddle up with it on my sofa.
The Puppy Cuddle Pal works on the same idea. It provides warmth and comfort for a pup. You simply put it in the microwave and then place it with your dog when you're both ready for bed, along with any other time it might need for comfort.
The Puppy Cuddle Pal is basically a buckwheat packet that looks like a tiny bear. It is very soft, and its cozy shape is perfect for a pet to cuddle up with. It also has a chewy tail, perfect for those who are still teething. And the toy can be machine washed.
Direction: Microwave product on High setting for 30 seconds. Remove and place with dog. To wash, remove warming packet from inside of product and machine wash outside shell only. Dry completely. (Warming packet should not be washed or wet.)
There is a warning which is common sense - not to overheat. Anything coming from the microwave with a similar use, you would check it first before giving it to a pet.
I used this last night and my puppy slept with it AND slept through the night. I have to say I do tend to overindulge my puppy to ensure she is happy. And from what others are now telling me when they meet her, they see a very happy little puppy who seems to enjoy her world and everything in it.
She is entering the most difficult phase of puppyhood, six months to a year, where from what the books tell me she will be testing me and my control. I'm finding that educating myself to become aware of what happens during this stage will help us both down the line. I hope I'm succeeding. I look at her now as she sleeps in her bed nestled between the Puppy Cuddle Pal and the Heartbeat Pillow. This tells me I'm at least providing the right toys for my dog's soothing needs.
