This topical ointment has pesticides in its ingredients that over time can cause internal organ failure and other health issues for dogs.
It has been known to also cause seizures in Goldendoodle dogs. Be very careful when using flea ointments on a Goldendoodle, if you own one.
Revolution does not always work on dogs, either. Especially those who do alot of swimming. We tried Revolution on our dogs and did not have any success on flea prevention. We found that Revolution can be washed out of the coat if your dog is washed too soon or if your dog has water contact within 24 hours after applying.
Many topical flea ointments, and not just Revolution, can be dangerous for dogs. Long term usage can cause liver damage, seizure disorders, internal organ failure, even death in a dog. It is thought that the pesticide ingredients are the culprit.
As a Goldendoodle breeder, we have heard 2 cases of seizure disorders in a Goldendoodle due to the long term usage of Revolution or other topical flea treatments. One that resulted in death. A Goldendoodle may be more sensitive to pesticide flea treatments than other dogs, but more scientific evidence needs to be acquired to either prove or disprove this theory. We do, however, know for a fact, that many dog owners have had health issues with their dogs of all breeds from using not only Revolution, but many other brand names of flea topical ointments.
