| athxu's Full Review: Philips eXpanium EXP201 Personal CD Player |
I had a mp3 player for a while, but I had a 32MB RIO, and it just didn't hold enough songs. The newer ones were nice but too expensive. CDs are perfect as they hold an amazing number of songs, and it's relatively portable; not as much as the mp3 players, but enough for what I use it for.
The Expanium comes with most of the usual features (except an AC adapter, which was REALLY annoying). It plays well enough. The earphones were okay, as good as one can expect packaged with a cd player not made by sony.
My biggest gripe is that a few weeks after I've had it, the LCD display was jacked. That was okay, as I didn't care so much. So a few months after, after a couple of cross-atlantic flights, of not so heavy use, I noticed that nearly EVERY feature was bad, except for the play-pause button. It's RIDICULOUS. I mean, it still plays very well, but I have to listen to the tracks in order every time, and given a hundred of so mp3s, that is extremely annoying.
So, don't get it.
