Pros: The sound quality, the elegant look, the blue glow....EVERYTHING!!!!!
(well; almost......)
Cons: Noisy CD changing mechanism, no memory setting for the CD player
The Bottom Line: I recommend this little gem because it sounds great, plain and simple. Why can't other mini/mirco hifis sound this wonderful?

After doing weeks of research and listening to various models, I bought it on a whim through EBAY for $125 shipped and received it a mere 2 days afterwards. It was easy to set up and takes up little space in the bedroom. I've only two minor complaints about it, and they're both concerning the 3-CD funtion:
1. Whenever I turn the unit back on, I have to constantly reset the CD function to "REPEAT/SHUFFLE/ALL DISCS" in order for it to play all the CDs in random order.
2. The CD-changer tray is very noisy when switching.(I've also heard and read various reviews about the CD mechanism going bad, but I've yet to come across that issue).
Otherwise, this little stereo is simply incredible. The light wood/metallic exterior is very classy and elegant. Although I have a bigger, more powerful system in the living room, it just seems to pale in comparison to the MC-70. The sound quality from the MC70 is the best that I've ever heard: the treble is nice and clear; the bass is just right(neither feeble nor boomy), the "WOOX" feature seem to bring out the best in the music and the "INCREDIBLE SURROUND" feature creates a sonic ambience that gives more life and depth to the music. Also, the unit emits a soft blue glow(it can be turned off if need be) that just "sets the mood". And since I've been using Windows Media as a jukebox and EQ, I just simply keep the "IS" and "WOOX" features on. I've also noticed that the mids and vocals are somewhat weak, but that's nothing major for me.
If I ever had the unit stolen I would certainly search high and low to replace it. It's a shame that Philips no longer offers such a great minisystem for sale......:*(
