Pros: Convenient and economic way to enjoy coffee.
Cons: Limited variety of coffees available for Senseo at Retail.
The Bottom Line: I like the Senseo system and the taste of their coffees. The machine also looks great on the countertop.

| randomaccess's Full Review: Philips Senseo 72-pc. Coffee Pods |
We recently purchased the Philips Senseo Single Serve coffeemaker. We made the purchase because we often found ourselves pouring unused coffee down the drain, probably wasting half of what we make in a week. Using a Single Serve Coffeemaker was the perfect solution for us.
The Senseo uses pre filled Pods, which are flat round disks filled with enough coffee to brew a 4 oz cup. This is a very small small amount of coffee yield, so the Senseo allows you to double up on the Pods to brew an 8 oz mug, which is probably a more typical size.
The Philips Pods work very well. I find the coffee to be flavorful, much more so then the coffee I was drinking from my 4 cup Mr Coffee machine. The medium roast is very flavorful I sometimes prefer the dark roast, but the medium has a nice flavor, not bitter at all to me, with a nice aftertaste. I always make an 8 oz mug with a little sugar and cream, but the coffee tastes great black.
The Pods can be had in different quantity packages. In the Northeast, I usually buy the coffee in 18 pc bags at Stop and Shop for $4.19 per bag, and they print out a $3 off coupon for your next purchase of 3 bags.
For heavy users, the 72 pc bag is a perfect size.
Buying a Senseo brewing system is like buying a razor...They will almost give you the coffeemaker to make a continuing profit by selling you the coffee pods.
An online search for "ShareSenseo" will lead you to a questionaire on the Philips Senseo site. Fill out the questionaire and you can qualify for a free basic Senseo machine, ($15 shipping and handling charge).
I bought my Senseo on Ebay, and later found out about the ShareSenseo plan from some online forums, and ordered one for my son, and one for us to keep as a backup if the first one ever fails.
This is a nice brewing system for someone whose needs limited to one or two cups at varying times of the day.
