Pros:Quiet and effective...nice looking too.
The Bottom Line:
Has lasted twice as long as I expected.
After much research and price comparisons I opted to buy the Sonicare 7800. It was only a little less expensive then the Rodadent my hygenist recommended. From everything I read they seem to do about the same things. Basically what I wanted was a toothbrush that kept my gumline clean.
Recommend this product?
Well the Sonicare 7800 seems to do that just fine. My teeth have never felt better and I actually find myself brushing no less than 3 times a day. This brush actually takes the work out of brushing. As the manual says, position the brush properly and gently move the brush along your teeth and gumline.
It's a pretty nice looking item too. The handle is large enough to get a good grip, the neck is long enough to reach my back teeth with ease. The deluxe holder is neat, though I doubt I'll actually mount it on the wall as suggested. It's doing quite well in the corner of the bathroom counter. Because the charge lasts about 2 weeks I put my charger away until it's time for a recharge. Leaving my plugs open for other things. There's what I consider minimal noise. There's a low buzzing but pretty quiet in my opinion.
Essentially I couldn't have been happier until I got to the back of the manual and discovered that the rechargeable battery CANNOT BE REPLACED. What??? I called Sonicare and the very helpful customer service person confirmed what I had clearly read. When the battery dies you have to buy a new brush. Hmmmm...how long will that be? I'll just have to see. Sonicare guarantees this brush for 2 years, but apparently the batteries CAN last as long as 7 years.
Had I known this I might have purchased to Rodadent (they come with a lifetime guarantee if you purchase them from a dentist). If my Sonicare lasts 4 years I'll be totally satisfied. Until then I'll enjoy using it and hoping to cross the 4 year and 1 month mark.
Update: It's been over 4 years and my Sonicare works just like itdid when I first bought it. Of course the white handle no longer matches the color of my new replacement brush head. Just evidence that I'm using an older model and a testament to the durability of the rechargeable battery. My charges are still lasting nearly 2 weeks. So over all...highly recommend.
